On Saturday the 21st we took our mother to the hospital, my brother and I wheeled her into the emergency room as she had tourble walking. once checked in they took her immediately and began doing tests to find out what was causing her symptoms. I had to head back home and told them to call me when they were ready to be picked up. When Sunday came around and i heard from my brother Matthew he told me that they think she either has a tumor or cancer, I had to stay home to hear from my Aunt Bonnie who is my Mothers sister. She told me that she would be here Monday at noon and that we would all go together to the hospital to see my mom. When we got there the doctor was already explaining to my brother just how bad everything was, her liver had grown to 10 times the normal size that it should be and that is was in his 27 years working there that is was the worst case he had ever seen. They told us that there was little to no chance of survival at this stage but if we were lucky and the biopsy shown us that it was lymphoma that there could still be a chance but it was unlikly since they believe it started in the colon and then spread to her liver. Tuesday they were supposed to do the biopsy but my mother had taken a blood thinner the day before she went to the hospital so doing the biopsy would be very risky so they said they would need to do it wednesday. but she was already taking a turn for the worst towards the afternoon on tuesday i wont go into details because it is too hard to talk about. They moved her from the 5th floor to the 4th floor into their Intermediate Intensive Care Unit, once there I spoke with the doctors and nurses in the hall way asking what our options are, i was told based on what they were seeing that she had zero chance of survival. It was at that point i had spoen with my Aunt Bonnie about our options and we agreed on DNR which is do not resuscitate and we made her as comfortable as should could be, she was in alot of pain towards the end because they took her off the morphine till we gave the go head for the comfort care, and as she was slowly going she fell asleep and then at 1:38 am Wednesday morning she had passed away in her sleep.
With our mother gone we now have to figure out how to pay for her funeral arrangement costs, pay her medical bills, settle her debts while also keeping our home in this very difficult time.
We will all miss my mother very much and we will always love her since she is a part of us and in our hearts, please send your prayers.
