Hi I am trying to raise funds for an all terrain wheelchair for myself. So I am reaching out. I am new grandma who wants to explore the outdoors with my grandsonNever in a million years did I think that I would end up developing Myasthenia Gravis. Myasthenia gravis (my-us-THEE-nee-uh GRAY-vis) causes muscles under your voluntary control to feel weak and get tired quickly. This happens when the communication between nerves and muscles breaks down.
There's no cure for myasthenia gravis. Treatment can help with symptoms. These symptoms can include weakness of arm or leg muscles, double vision, drooping eyelids, and problems with speaking, chewing, swallowing, and breathing. The Myasthenia makes it difficult for me to move around and enjoy the outdoors. I was first officially diagnosed with MG in March when I couldn’t speak, chew, breathe, walk, or get up from a chair. I spent over 150 days in the hospital, 45 in ICU. My major issue is my mobility. I can walk about 20 feet, then rest. But I do have a regular wheelchair. The problem with this is that I don’t have the strength to self-propel it.
My insurance won't cover a motorized wheelchair or scooter.
Ideally, I would like to raise funds for “the Rig”. This can take me to places I used to go and take my grandson along. Exploring trails, ocean beaches, dirt roads. Get back out to being outside, smell fresh air, and be able to get out into Mother Nature and not become exhausted.
Thank you! #mg #myastheniagravis #therig #donationswheelchair#helpdonate#wheelchairfunds
