Help with Derek's Medical and Living Expenses

My name is Laura and I have created this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Derek.

 

Derek has been in the hospital since August 31st. He was admitted with Endocarditis (heart infection), a life-threatening condition, as well as pneumonia. A bacterial culture was taken over a week ago and they are still waiting for the results before the medical staff proceeds with a definitive treatment plan.

 

On September 11, Derek was transferred to a nursing home, but his medications were lost in the process. Being without his medications, his health rapidly declined and he was transferred back to the ER at Parma Hospital.

 

Prior to this most recent event, Derek had been in and out of the hospital numerous times throughout this past year for pneumonia. These health issues have caused him to miss a significant amount of work. Derek is several months behind on his mortgage and utilities and he will have a hefty amount of medical bills waiting for him once he is out of treatment. While in the hospital, he has received shut off notices for his gas and electricity, which will become an issue for his pets while he is in the hospital.

 

When I last spoke with Derek on the phone, he could hardly speak, but expressed how concerned he was about his overdue bills and wanting to return to work. When someone is laying in a hospital bed with a life-threatening condition, they should not have to be worrying about their bills.

 

I have created this fundraiser with the hope that Derek can focus on getting better, so that he has a home to return to and to ensure his pets are safe. Any amount of support would be greatly appreciated.
