Hey! My name is Veronica Sanchez, I am a low-income DACA student who heavily relies on financial aid. I would appreciate it if you helped me pay for my first year college tuition. Recently my University drastically changed my Financial Aid award. Although I have been able to save up a few thousand and received some scholarships, it is not enough to get me through my freshman year. I’m confident that with your support I’ll be able to collect enough money to help me attend my first year.
I’m an incoming freshman at UC Riverside and am majoring in Cultural Anthropology. I’m the 2nd in my family to attend college, but I plan to go further and earn a Master's degree. Not only do I want to earn a bachelors to increase my projected salary but I’m also interested in conducting my own research surrounding Anthropology. I have plans to either double major or minor in a specialized section of my work of cultural conservation and advocacy for minority groups. I want to understand the historical and cultural importance of the land and its surrounding community. In our rapidly changing society I think that it’s important to preserve and recognize these ancestral roots.
During high school I was at the top of my class with a GPA of 3.8 and was able to graduate with honors. I received the Distinguished Don’s medal and the Spirit of Service Award for my work. I’m also an Artist, and you can definitely see the impact of my love for my Mexican identity and cultural history in all my pieces. For about 4 years, I worked painting murals for the city, through a youth program that helps fight vandalism and gang violence through beautification projects. I had my art exhibited in about 7 exhibitions including one for the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santa Barbara and another for the Santa Barbara Art Museum. I’ve designed shirts and created logos for Undoc Student groups in both UCR and my high school. I’m also a photographer, a performer, an event organizer, and an advocate for our community.

¡Hola! Me llamo Verónica Sánchez, soy una estudiante de DACA de bajos ingresos que depende en gran medida de la ayuda financiera. Les agradecería si me ayudaran a pagar la matrícula universitaria de mi primer año. Recientemente, mi Universidad cambió drásticamente mi premio de Ayuda Financiera. Aunque he podido ahorrar unos miles y he recibido algunas becas, no es suficiente para pasar mi primer año. Estoy segura de que con su apoyo podré recaudar suficiente dinero para ayudarme a asistir a mi primer año.
Soy un estudiante de primer año entrante en UC Riverside y me especializo en Antropología Cultural. Soy la segunda en mi familia en asistir a la universidad, pero planeo ir más allá y obtener una maestría. No solo quiero obtener un bachillerato para aumentar mi salario proyectado, sino que también estoy interesada en realizar mi propia investigación en torno a la antropología. Tengo planes de estudiar una especialización en mi trabajo de conservación cultural y defensa de grupos minoritarios. Quiero comprender la importancia histórica y cultural de la tierra y su comunidad circundante. En nuestra sociedad que cambia rápidamente, creo que es importante preservar y reconocer estas raíces ancestrales.
Durante la escuela secundaria estaba entre los mejores de mi clase con un GPA de 3.8 y pude graduarme con honores. Recibí la medalla de Don Distinguido y el Premio al Espíritu de Servicio por mi trabajo. También soy Artista, y definitivamente puedes ver el impacto de mi amor por mi identidad e historia cultural mexicana en todas mis piezas. Durante aproximadamente 4 años, trabajé pintando murales para la ciudad, a través de un programa juvenil que ayuda a combatir el vandalismo y la violencia de las pandillas a través de proyectos de embellecimiento. Tuve mi arte expuesto en aproximadamente 7 exposiciones, incluida una para el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Santa Bárbara y otra para el Museo de Arte de Santa Bárbara. He diseñado camisetas y creado logotipos para grupos de estudiantes de Undoc tanto en la UCR como en mi escuela secundaria. También soy fotógrafa, artista, organizadora de eventos y activista.
