Hi. I hope this message meets you well. My name is Uche and my family is in need of help at this time. Myself, 36, my wife Denise, 37, and our little daughter Annelise, 8, have been sleeping on inlaws' couches and floors since our landlord canceled our lease after our apartment rental flooded at midnight on Aug 31st going into September 1st in 2024. We are in desperate need of assistance with securing a new home.

How we got here:

My wife and I were in our living room and I got up to go to our bedroom only to find something that would completely change the trajectory of the next few months of our lives - a pipe had burst in the laundry room and our apartment was flooding. After trying to control the water to no avail, there we were along with our daughter in the middle of the night trying to find a place to sleep. Thankfully, my brother was still awake and we headed over to spend the night there.

Little did we know, that was the last night we spent at "home."

Rentals in Central New Jersey where we live is sky-high, most apartments as high as $2600+ monthly, which coupled with our other monthly payments, is not feasible for us.

We realized we really have no better choice than to try to get into an affordable home.

In the time since we lost our apartment, we've put thousands into cutting down our debt in order to be able to qualify for NJ's down payment assistance programs which have Debt to Income ratio requirements.

Unfortunately we have been informed we still won't be able to qualify for the Down Payment Assistance programs in NJ despite pouring thousands towards our debt since we lost our apartment rental.

We were really depending on those down payment assistance programs hoping that all the months of trying to cutting down our debt since we lost our apartment would get us there.

Therefore we are pleading for help to raise enough money for a minimal down payment. The sleeping conditions is starting to affect our health and it has been really tough but we are ever determined to make it through.

This sudden life altering moment has really put us in the toughest point of our lives and we are praying members of our community can lend a helping hand to get through this.

We really want to overcome this period so our daugher can get back to normalcy as quickly as possible.

We understand that our situation is peculiar and there are people in this world worse off than we are; however, we are in desperate need. We have been sleeping on couches and floors just to get by. any way. Any help will truly be life-changing for us and our daughter, quite literally a miracle.
