Dear Friends, Family and Community,
With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes I am writing this story in hope to gain support in Tommy’s fight against Hodgkin's Lymphoma. We are reaching out to our community and loved ones to help Tom, something that has been difficult to come to terms with, our pride at times holding us back from asking for the support.
This has been a difficult and uncomfortable place for us but we have come to a place of needing support from our community. Anything and everything can help during these hard times. I will do anything I can to help this man heal so we are here now humbly asking for the support and love during these hard times.
On March 10th 2021, Tommy was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It has come as a shock to us as we discover the severity and progression of his cancer. Our happy go lucky guy has now been dealt with the confusion, sadness and pain of battling cancer. Initially we were in shock, moments of uncontrollable tears and the fear of the unknown. We have had great days, good days and bad days. But ultimately through this all we have decided to take this battle on with courage, strength and positivity.
We know that he can beat this and we will do everything we can do get through this!
Throughout the last 6 months Tommy has been struggling with chronic back pain. Something we associated with a old injury, something we thought was an easy fix. When the pain became too much for Tom to handle he went in for treatment. During his back examination and appointment the doctors were alarmed by his swollen lymph nodes on his neck and armpit. They decided to admit him into the hospital for further testing. After blood work, x-rays, ultrasounds and a CT scan, Tom was informed of a large mass next to his heart about the size an orange, along with the swollen lymph’s all over his entire body. The next day he was admitted into surgery to have multiple lymphs in his neck removed for testing and biopsy. It was the longest week of our lives waiting for the news on the diagnosis.
He was given the diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. They believe it to be at a late stage 3, with the cancer spreading to his entire body. It is at such a progressive state that the tumor is now pushing onto his spine causing complications to his body. In the last week it has progressed to a place where Tom is not longer able to walk without assistance. The tumor is pushing on the nerves that control the mobility of his legs. He will not be able to have surgery because the tumor is too large and the location it too risky. In order to have a possibility of removing the tumor he must first start with chemotherapy. Tom has been advised to seek treatment immediately before the tumor gets too large, putting him at risk of the tumor cutting off circulation to his heart.
Toms treatment will consist first of immediate treatment of chemotherapy for many months to rid his body of the invasive cancer that has spread to every lymph node is his body. Next step will be to perform radiation to keep the tumor from growing. If he is able to reduce the size of the tumor in his chest, he may be a candidate for surgery to remove the tumor so no further complications happen to his spine or heart.
After we go through these standard treatments of chemo and radiation. Tom will be able to attend in residence treatment at the Gerson Clinic in Tijuana for two months. After in patient treatment we will be hiring an in home therapist working with him to continue treatment. He will also be going through treatments advised by Dr. Morse to cleanse his lymphatic system and reset his immune system for two rounds for 6 months. We are looking to work with Doctors who specializes in the treatment of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Taking every approach possible from Western Medicine to holistic treatments. We will be working with a traditional Mayan medicine woman Dulce in Mexico along with Vaidyas of Ayurveda, Panchakarma treatments in Fairfield Iowa and India to help cleanse the body of toxins and reset the system after chemo. Everything and anything we can do to be one step ahead of this disease. All the costs associated with the treatments, Tom will also be out of work and needing help and support in all areas of life. Along with potentially needing to hire help and assistance throughout the next 6 months or more.
This will be a long road and tough fight but we know each day we keep fighting will be a step closer to our goal, Tommy’s remission.
We are currently working with the doctors daily to get him set up to receive chemo and radiation. Without medical insurance and the lack of income due to Covid we are in a place of needing support. With thousands of dollars already spent, understanding the costs associated with this disease and the treatments, and the reality of how long this could take we know that over the course of the years we will reach our goal. We know this will be a long journey ahead. One filled with hard moments, lots of tears but ultimately the strength and will to live. We have faith in this path and grateful for the gifts of love we have received during this time.
Tom is one of the most magical humans I have ever known. I have never come across a man so positive, happy and an energy for living life to the fullest. His charisma, beauty and smile is unrivaled. His love for his friends and his people is far beyond anything I’ve seen. As many of you know he lost his mother at a young age and for him his support in this life has come from those dearest and closest friends he has acquired throughout his lifetime.
We have high hopes for treatments and we continue to pray every single day for the healing of his body. We know that he is strong and young and capable of healing and moving into remission!

From his best buds in SF to all the burners he’s trampled through the dust, to all the lives he has impacted in his travels around the globe, with this is an opportunity to come together to show this amazing man how loved and supported he is through these next few months to years of treatments he will endure. Please reach out to him and send him your love and prayers.
You can find him on Instagram at @davis452 & he could use all the positive words of encouragement to keep him strong during these times. I know that he will get through this and continue to shine his light for many more years on this planet! Please contact us if you have any advice, doctors or treatments that will aid in helping him beat this cancer!
