As many of you know, the Cruz family has experienced many consecutive devastating deaths in our family. Our most recent one happened just two days ago with the loss of our beautiful Tia Flor.

Our Tia Flor was an artist in her youth. She traveled abroad to pursue her dreams. However, as her parents began to age and needed care, she left that life behind to dedicate her life to becoming their caregiver. She never married, nor had any children, but she brought this care for our grandparents and others.

In 2011, our family suffered the death of our grandfather, Pedro Cruz. Our family honored his ashes by keeping them at home, which followed our families through many households.

In 2019, our family was able to enjoy one last Christmas party together with all of our aunts and uncles. Sadly, no one knew that this would be the last time we would get to enjoy each other's company all together.

As many of you know, the heart and soul of our family and the glue that kept us all together was our beloved Tia Ana Cruz Trujillo. She had been battling cancer for over 20+ years, but sadly succumbed to her cancer and passed away in June of 2020.

Shortly after Tia Ana’s passing, Tia Aurora Cruz Miura decided to get herself checked as she was beginning to experience some health concerns. Tia Aurora (or Pochita, as many know her by) broke the heartbreaking news to us that she was beginning her battle with cancer as well. Unfortunately, Tia Aurora’s cancer had spread fast and she soon followed Tia Ana to heaven in October of 2020 leaving her husband, our tío Isamo who was always there for her and all of our family.

These devastating consecutive deaths were extremely hard to cope with, as they happened during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, we could not immediately gather our families to grieve together as we normally would have to say goodbye, and had to gather online via Zoom.

Just 7 months after the passing of Tia Ana, and a few months after the loss of our Tia Pocha, we lost our beloved grandmother, Abuelita Teresa Cruz, in January of 2021.

After the sudden deaths of many of our family members, our Tia Flor began experiencing other health issues and suffering from various pains in her body. Finally, when she couldn’t take the pain anymore, she went to the emergency room only to find out that her kidneys needed immediate help.

On September 8th of 2023, our dear Tia Flor de Maria followed her sisters, brother and parents to heaven. As we wait for the cause of death results, our family is once again aching from another majorly tragic loss. Our Tia Flor is now in heaven with her most beloved family members, but most importantly, everyone is now with God.

Please pray for our family.

Through these tragic deaths and losses, our family has decided that the ashes of our grandpa Pedro, grandma Teresa, Tia Aurora and Tia Flor need a final resting place.

Your kind and generous contributions will go towards burial costs, moving costs for the surviving family members, and the autopsy of our Tia Flor. Unfortunately, because our aunt died in the hospital of renal failure, we won’t receive an autopsy or origin of cancer answers unless we seek it ourselves. Reproductive health questions will help protect her descendants and our children.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, la familia Cruz ha sufrido de muchas muertes devastadoras consecutivas. La más reciente ocurrió hace solo dos días con la pérdida de nuestra hermosa Tia Flor.

Nuestra Tia Flor fue una artista en su juventud. Viajó al extranjero para seguir sus sueños. Sin embargo, a medida que sus padres comenzaron a envejecer y necesitaban cuidados, dejó esa vida atrás para dedicarla a su familia. Ella nunca se casó ni tuvo hijos, pero trajo este cariño para cuidar de nuestros abuelos y de otros.

En 2011, nuestra familia sufrió la muerte de nuestro abuelo, Pedro Cruz. Nuestra familia honró sus cenizas manteniéndolas en casa, lo que siguió a la familia a muchos hogares.

En 2019, nuestra familia pudo disfrutar de una última fiesta de Navidad junto con todos nuestros tíos y tías. Lamentablemente, nadie sabía que esta sería la última vez que podríamos disfrutar de la compañía de todos juntos.

Como muchos de ustedes saben, el corazón, alma de nuestra familia y el pegamento que nos mantuvo a todos unidos fue nuestra querida Tía Ana Cruz Trujillo. Ella luchó contra el cáncer durante más de 20 años, pero lamentablemente perdió su batalla al cáncer y falleció en Junio de 2020.

Poco después de la muerte de Tia Ana, Tia Aurora Cruz Miura decidió hacerse un chequeo, ya que comenzaba a experimentar algunos problemas de salud. Tia Aurora (o Pochita, como muchos la conocen) nos dio la desgarradora noticia de que ella también estaba comenzando su batalla contra el cáncer. Desafortunadamente, el cáncer de Tia Aurora se había extendido rápidamente y la tía acompañó a la Tia Ana al cielo en Octubre del 2020, dejando a nuestro tío Isamo quien siempre estuvo cuidándola a ella y a nuestra familia.

Estas devastadoras muertes consecutivas fueron extremadamente difíciles de enfrentar, ya que ocurrieron durante el comienzo de la pandemia de COVID-19. Como tal, no pudimos reunir a nuestras familias para compartir durante esta tristeza, ya que normalmente tendríamos que reunirnos en línea a través de Zoom.

Solo 7 meses después de la muerte de la Tia Ana, y unos meses después de la pérdida de nuestra Tia Pocha, perdimos a nuestra amada abuela, Abuelita Teresa Cruz, en Enero de 2021.

Después de las muertes repentinas de muchos de los miembros de nuestra familia, nuestra Tia Flor comenzó a tener otros problemas de salud y a sufrir varios dolores en su cuerpo. Finalmente, cuando ya no podía soportar el dolor, fue a al hospital solo para descubrir que sus riñones necesitaban ayuda inmediata.

El 8 de septiembre de 2023, nuestra querida Tia Flor de María siguió a sus hermanas, hermano y padres al cielo. Mientras esperamos los resultados de la causa de la muerte, nuestra familia sufre otra vez más de una tragedia.

Nuestra Tía Flor está ahora en el cielo con sus miembros más queridos, pero lo más importante es que todos están ahora con Dios.

A través de estas trágicas muertes y pérdidas, nuestra familia ha decidido que las cenizas de nuestro abuelito Pedro, la abuelita Teresa, Tia Aurora y Tia Flor necesitan un lugar de descanso final.

Sus amables y generosas contribuciones se destinarán a los costos de entierro, los costos de mudanza y la autopsia de nuestra Tia Flor. Desafortunadamente, debido a que nuestra tía murió en el hospital de insuficiencia renal, no recibiremos una autopsia o respuestas de origen del cáncer a menos que lo busquemos nosotros mismos. Las preguntas de salud reproductiva ayudarán a proteger a sus descendientes y a nuestros hijos.
