William John Strout, Jr. 6/11/70-6/20/26. Forever loved!

At the beginning of October, our brother Bill fell ill, finding it difficult to breathe, unable to keep anything in, and suffering severe edema. We took him to the emergency room to learn he was suffering from congestive heart failure (CHF), stage 3, and more critically, renal failure, stage 5. After almost two weeks in acute care, he was stabilized, the edema was reduced, and the doctors were fairly confident his heart could recover to stage 2 (CHF) if they could keep the fluid off. While this was positive news and we were hopeful, his kidney labs still were not improving. After a biopsy of his kidneys, the doctors diagnosed him with “IgA Nephropathy” and determined he has less than 10% kidney function left. Unfortunately, this damage is not reversible. The prognosis is heartbreaking and the mounting medical bills and long-term care needed are devastating to his family. His employer does not offer benefits or leave. If he’s not at work, he doesn’t get paid. They’re working to secure assistance for the medical bills and needed dialysis, as well as disability benefits, but in the meantime, he and his wife are struggling to pay rent, utilities, co-pays, and buy groceries on just her salary. He is too proud to ask for help, so we, his sisters are asking for him. Will you please help our brother? Everything helps and is greatly appreciated!
