At 26yrs old, Ashley has been diagnosed with Type 1 Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. We found out at 23 weeks pregnant. That's a big medical term for saying that she has an enlarged right ventricle (one of the 4 chambers of the heart). They believe this to be genetic. Ashley's mother, Amanda, was also diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and she died at 28 as a result of complications to the disease, Ashley was 10. Medical science has advanced since Ashley's mother's time but there are still very limited options to choose from. Choosing to become pregnant with this condition is very uncommon, because the chance of death is high. The farther Ashley gets in her pregnancy the riskier it is for her, but the better Erison's chances are. There doesn't seem to be much that can be done other than montior and see if she worsens, and deliver the baby if things get worse for Ashley. There is some talk of experimental drugs, so that's being looked into. Several of you have been following her progress and the compassion has been amazing.

Heres the thing, this condition is likely to shorten her lifespan significantly, and her being pregnant just makes this much more dangerous. Her quality of life will be diminished. She's unable to go back to work, and I am afraid to leave her side with the "let's wait and see if she gets worse" mentality so we have no income coming in. She's receiving the medical care she needs as best as we can find, so we're now reaching out to family and friends for financial assistance. No one is obligated by any means, it's tough for us to even ask for this kind of help, but a few of you have asked if we have something they can donate to and others have suggested this site.

We appreciate you giving, but if you can't give we understand. Please share, we would like to reach as many people as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
