Help Support Champ's Fight Against Cancer

**UPDATE TUESDAY 9/10**
Back at VCA today for a recheck after 2 weeks of prednisone. Champ lost 5 lbs since we were here last (which is super crazy because he’s been a very robust eater lately) so we’re increasing his daily intake by a cup and continuing to add fresh veggies, fruits, eggs, and kefir to his food (if y’all haven’t heard about kefir for gut health you should really check it out…added it for the dogs and me too but Kaley is not a fan lol) Still going to give prednisone twice daily but will start reducing the dosage in about a week to see if we can determine what he’ll need to take as a maintenance dose going forward.

I really appreciate all the love and support shown to us. PLEASE SHARE!!

**UPDATE MONDAY 9/2**
Side effects of the 80mg daily prednisone in full effect. Definitely eating and drinking more…leading to way more potty breaks throughout the day. Only a couple of accidents so far first thing in the morning. Poor puppers just couldn’t hold it any longer. We’ll have to make some adjustments to our morning routine, but shouldn’t be too bad.

**UPDATE WEDNESDAY 8/28**
Got a call from the vet @ VCA this afternoon with cytology results, confirming the diagnosis of lymphoma. Starting 80mg daily of prednisone for the next 14 days. Bloodwork scheduled 2 weeks out to recheck levels after being on such a high dose of steroids for that long. Got the first dose in about 7pm this evening. Keeping fingers crossed this will get the lymph node swelling to go down!! Already experienced the first 2 medication side effects, increased thirst and appetite. I don’t think I’ve seen him eat that quickly in some time…will probably break the slow feeder back out so we can prevent vomiting as much as possible. Now we’ll both be up in the middle of the night to pee lol.

**UPDATE TUESDAY 8/27**
On the way to the vet @ VCA for another round of cytology and labs. Champ loved the short car ride (something he doesn’t usually get in the middle of a weekday) and all the staff here absolutely adore him. He had to have 6 more lymph nodes aspirated today, but true to his name he handled it like a Champ!!

I really appreciate all the love and support shown to us in just a couple of days. PLEASE SHARE!!

**ORIGINAL POST**
Hello friends! Champ has recently been diagnosed with canine lymphoma. He’s the bestest boy and came to me in a very unique way. He was actually my ex’s dog and after his new girlfriend (now wife) didn’t like Champ, he was surrendered. After a month of searching, Champ getting adopted through the shelter my ex surrendered him to, his adopted family not being permitted to keep him by their apartment complex due to his breed, I finally received the call Champ had been found and I was able to adopt him. That was 4 years ago August 22nd.

I’m anxiously awaiting results from additional testing so we can decide our plan of action going forward. The vet said the $1000 I’ve spent so far the last 2 days is going to be a drop in the bucket even if we decide not to do chemo/platelet therapy.

Any help anyone can contribute would be greatly appreciated!!
