Help Us Stop the Cycle of Suffering for Abandoned Cats
AND meet your new forever cat - adoptions available!
Right now across western Illinois and eastern Missouri, hundreds of abandoned, displaced, and feral cats are struggling to survive.
Vacant homes are used as dumping grounds for unwanted cats. Truck stops and gas stations have become abandonment sites. Friendly cats that once belonged to someone are now trying to survive outdoors without food, shelter, medical care, or safety. At the same time, affordable spay and neuter access remains extremely limited.
The local Humane Society has been without a staff veterinarian for more than two years. While they continue doing important work with the help of a dedicated local cat coalition, current wait times for affordable spay/neuter appointments can stretch 6–8 months.
For many people trying to care for abandoned cats, standard veterinary pricing — often $160–$250 per cat — is simply out of reach.
And while people wait for help, the cycle continues.
Cats reproduce. Colonies grow.
More kittens are born into suffering.
We began this work after a heartbreaking emergency. A hoarder passed away, and more than 20 cats were suddenly left outside during winter with no food or shelter. A compassionate woman opened her garage to keep them alive while desperately searching for help.
That single crisis became the beginning of something much larger.
Since then, calls for help have continued to pour in from across the region.
Thanks to the generosity of donors and supporters, our small volunteer group has already helped spay and neuter 45 cats in just five months — preventing an estimated 230+ kittens from being born into homelessness and hardship.
But the need continues to grow.
Today, we are assisting multiple colonies and abandoned cats throughout western Illinois and eastern Missouri. Some are friendly cats that can be adopted into loving homes. Others require humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to stabilize outdoor colonies and prevent further population growth.
This work involves far more than simply scheduling surgeries.
Every cat requires trapping, transportation, feeding, recovery care, medical follow-up, and coordination. Because local resources remain limited, we often transport cats across Illinois and Missouri just to secure affordable appointments.
And right now, during kitten season, the urgency has intensified.
We are finding tiny kittens that are flea-infested, dehydrated, underweight, and sick. Nursing mothers are becoming pregnant again while still caring for existing litters. Without intervention, the suffering multiplies rapidly.
That is why early spay and neuter access is so critical.
Adoptions available!! At the same time, we currently have more than 25 wonderful adoptable cats searching for forever homes. These are not feral cats. They are friendly abandoned cats who deserve safety, comfort, and families of their own. They have been vetted, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered and are ready for loving homes.
Our Mission
We are working to:
1. Expand access to affordable spay and neuter services
2. Stabilize colonies through humane TNR efforts
3. Feed and care for abandoned cats in crisis situations
4. Rescue and rehome adoptable cats whenever possible
5. Build a sustainable volunteer network for long-term impact
How Your Donation Helps
Your support directly funds:
1. Spay and neuter surgeries
2. Vaccinations
3. Emergency veterinary treatment
4. Food and colony support
5. Recovery and foster care supplies
Every dollar creates immediate, measurable impact.
This effort is entirely volunteer-run. No one is paid, and 100% of donations go directly toward cat care and spay/neuter services.
Volunteers are personally contributing hundreds of dollars each month simply to keep colonies fed and cats safe.
Transparency matters deeply to us, and receipts are publicly shared so donors can see exactly how funds are being used.
These cats did not choose this life.
They are here because they were abandoned, neglected, or left behind. Now they depend on compassionate people willing to help change their future.
If you are able, please consider donating, sharing this campaign, or helping us connect adoptable cats with loving homes.
No amount is too small.
One meal can sustain a cat.
One surgery can prevent generations of suffering.
One act of kindness can save a life.
Thank you for caring about these forgotten cats — and for helping us build a more humane future for our community.
