The MICU team at UNC Medical Center is jumping in to help out one of our very own COVID ICU nurses. This sweet coworker and her family recently found out that their son, Everett, was diagnosed with Leukemia. Everett is two years old and will be spending Christmas in the hospital and starting 12/23/2020, he will be getting a port placed to start chemotherapy and have his bone marrow biopsy. We can all use help during these trying times, but if you can give a little more and help this family out it would be greatly appreciated. Any contributions or kind words during this time will provide relief and comfort.
Below is a message shared by Everett's mother, Miranda. Updates will be posted as available from family.
To Our Family and Friends,
Christmas looks a little different this year as we will be celebrating within the walls of the hospital. Our son Everett was just diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. We are devastated, scared and heartbroken for the path that lies before us, but remain optimistic in his journey to beat cancer. We will be taking a hiatus from social media in the coming months to solely focus on our sweet sweet boy, but we ask that you keep us in your prayers and thoughts as our family enters this fight.
Sincerely,
Miranda, Jack and Everett
