UPDATED: Help Save Jupiter: My service dog/best friend
My 5-year-old service dog, Jupiter, is not just a pet—she is my lifeline. She helps me daily with severe PTSD, OCD, and debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. She goes everywhere with me and is deeply loved by her family, friends, and the entire community.
But Jupiter’s love doesn’t stop with me. She has a gift—she comforts everyone she meets. If someone is in emotional pain, she somehow knows. She’s been there not just for me, but for so many others, offering calm, warmth, and silent understanding.
About a week and a half ago, something changed. Her mouth began to droop. Then her left eye. And now, in just the last couple days, her head has started to tilt to that same side. She has grown lethargic.
UPDATE: It has been confirmed that she has left-side, facial paralysis. Unfortunately, the easy answer to that would’ve been an ear infection, but that is negative as of now. Waiting on blood tests. A CT scan will take place later this week in Lincoln, followed by an MRI at U of I. We are hoping it is idiopathic, which means no real cause, and could possibly heal, but most likely would be permanent, but not fatal. The other concern are facial or brain tumors.
I will do anything to help my baby girl. I’m reaching out in hopes of getting support to keep her happy, healthy, and strong—so she can continue being my best friend, sidekick, protector, and the gentle soul who brightens the lives of animals and people alike.
If you can help—whether by donating, sharing, or simply sending love—we are so grateful. Thank you for helping me fight for her, the way she’s always fought for me.
With love, Michelle, Tyler, Darby, Iko, Neptune, and Eclipse
