Care for Winston: Emergency Vet Fund

***update***
As of January 13th, Winston still has a blockage in his outflow area of his stomach, we unfortunately need to do exploratory surgery to find out what it is and possibly have it removed. This surgery is going to cost $1700.
if you’re able to help it is greatly appreciated.
Thank you .
on January 3, 2026 I came home from work to find that my dog was very sick. Winston had obviously puked multiple times while I was away at work and continued aggressively vomiting until roughly 12 AM on January 4th. at that time he began convulsing and showing lots of signs of discomfort, so I decided to take him to the only open emergency vet, Upstate Veterinary Specialty.
Once we were seen by a doctor, one of the first things that was mentioned is that even though he is young, it could be cancer based off of how much weight he has lost in the recent months immediately.
my world is flipped upside down as Winston is and always has been like a child to me. I got him when I was 19 and he was three months old. We now are 25 and six years old I don’t know what I would do with myself if I was to lost him.
At that time, I began applying for CareCredit scratch pay, and all pet card. The only one to approve me was all pet card for $2700. The doctor decided they wanted to hold him for observation. during this stay they would run blood tests, do a chest x-ray and abdominal x-ray to check for any tumors or other issues. All of this came out too roughly $3000. I told them to do what they could with the $2700 that I had.

Blood work came back really good, but the abdominal x-ray did show two blockages in his abdominal region and intestinal pathway. From that knowledge, they decided they needed to keep him longer and do an ultrasound Monday morning January 5th.
The estimate now was above $4000 money that I did not have whatsoever.
around noon on Sunday, January 4 I decided the best thing for us to do was bring Winston home and administer fluids ourselves and get a hold of his primary vet Monday morning for an emergency ultrasound. This alone saved me a good amount of money.
When I arrive to pick Winston up, the vet stated that he had not peed or pooped since he’d been there. This was very concerning thankfully when he and I walked outside to go home he was able to use the bathroom. I believe with how sick he was and how scared he was. He refused to use the bathroom with the staff because they were strangers. Overall, the choice of pulling him from the hospital I think was the best as later on that night he began to drink water on his own, and after given fluids, he even began to eat.
This afternoon, Monday, January 5th we went to his primary vet and got more x-rays and the ultrasound done. The results showed no signs of tumors or anything resembling cancer. They also showed that the blockage in his lower intestine was no longer visible the only area they were unable to see was his stomach outflow region. Unfortunately, that area was very sensitive for Winston and they were unable to clearly see what could be going on there.
These results are very good news and hopefully on the track to Winston fully recovering.
We will follow up at the end of the week for beginning of next week to try and revisit that outflow area and see if anything is there or causing irritation.
As of now we owe $2100 to the all pet card for the emergency vet visit. With the recent move to New York from Oregon I’m still trying to get settled and established with work here.
I am asking for donations to help pay for that emergency vet bill. If you’re willing to or able to donate anything, it is all greatly appreciated and helps us continue to afford our current bills.
Thank you so much and God bless you.
