Rome, Italy
I have started this campaign because I am asking for your help. Here in Italy the entire country is under lock down and it's having a devastating impact on the entire country. And the people who are dependent on tourism for their livelihood are suffering badly right now. We are one of those companies that is trying to survive this crisis and that is why I am reaching out and asking for your help.
To provide a little background, our company is called Eating Europe (formerly Eating Italy), www.eatingeurope.com, and we create food tours that offer travelers a unique chance to get a real taste of the local food and to meet the colorful and passionate people who make and sell it. We are based here in Rome which is where we first started nine years ago.
Our company is made up of 25 full time people who I couldn’t be more proud to work with because of their commitment and dedication even now in the midst of this terrible crisis. They are young professionals most with young families who are fully reliant on this job for their income. In addition we also have 90 amazing and passionate tour guides who our business helps support, as well as hundreds of small shops, family restaurants, and market stalls who count on our tours as an important source of income. Together we are one big family, and together we are trying to get through this difficult time.
The harsh reality is that the tourism sector in Italy is reeling and it is people's employment and livelihood are at risk. I am trying to do everything possible to avoid having to let go of any of our people at this already trying time, but there are not many options in this climate which is why we are looking for your support at this time.
In addition to helping us get through this difficult time, each voucher is a commitment to return to Europe once this storm passes and support all the small businesses that rely on you.
As I am in Italy as I write this, I want to take this opportunity to let you all know that the situation in Milan changed so quickly to one that appeared under control to a completely different and very scary reality in a matter of twelve days. I am urging my family in Philadelphia and everyone else I can tell to protect yourselves by taking all precautions necessary in case a similar situation happens in the U.S.
I cannot express how much I appreciate your support at this very difficult time I hope in a few months we will all be past this awful moment and can get back to doing the things we love like experiencing far away places and discovering new cultures, tasting new foods, and encountering new people.
Warmly,
