Update on Chris
It is with the heaviest hearts that we share that Chris passed away on Saturday, March 28th, with his Mom Kim Griggs and Paige Griggs by his side.

There are no words to fully express the pain of this loss. Chris was so deeply loved, and he will be missed more than we can ever put into words.

We won’t be having a formal funeral, but instead will be holding a celebration of life to honor him. We will share details when we are ready.

Thank you all for the love, support, and prayers you’ve given us during this incredibly difficult time—it truly means more than you know. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers, especially his children, as we navigate the days ahead.

Chris Griggs Kim Griggs David Griggs

This is not the update we were hoping to share. The brain infection has caused significant damage, and there are too many lesions for doctors to remove them without causing even more harm. Chris has been off sedation for several days now but remains unresponsive. He doesn’t open his eyes or follow simple commands like squeezing a hand or wiggling his toes.

The ventilator and drain tube have been removed, and Chris is now receiving comfort care. After seeking second opinions, it’s clear that his body is very sick and septic.

We ask that everyone please respect his dignity and our family’s privacy during this difficult time by refraining from visiting. If you would like to say goodbye, you can send me a voice message, and I will play it for him so he can hear your words.

Please keep praying and sending positive thoughts for our children as they face this heartbreaking time and the huge changes ahead.

Thank you all for the love, prayers, and support you’ve shown us throughout this journey. It means more than words can express.

There is no change in Chris. He is still in a coma like state on intubation tube and a drain in his head.
Please continue to send uplifting thoughts to his family at this time.

Anything you can donate would be a great help! Thank you for your donations! They are greatly appreciated, more than you know.

  • Hello, I am Chris Griggs' MIL, Andy Klug. I would like to raise money for Chris and his kids while he is out of work due to his accident and his time in the hospital. Also any medical bills that are left over after insurance and follow-up appointments, during his leave and time off work as things get in order.
Anything will help. He is on the mend and we hope for a speedy recovery and return to his normal daily activities.
I know Chris, McKenna, Easton, Amelia, and Kinley would be grateful!
Paige is taking care of their kids and overlooking Chris's house while he is in the hospital, and if you are able, she may need help as the kids' extracurriculars wind down for the winter season.

Thank you for your interest and anything you can do to help. We know it takes a village to take care of each other in their time of need.

UPDATE Day 3 Chris Griggs :
Chris has now been in the hospital for 3 days. They are still waiting to see if his blood cultures grow anything (trying to see what type of infection he is fighting). As of right now they have not. If they don't see growth by tomorrow, they are talking about Wed. Going into one of the lesions he has on the brain to figure out what type of infection it is. They hope that they will be able to go with a less invasive approach by taking one that is not in the brain itself, but we will not know more until then.
Today the infectious disease Dr. Was in and said that although there are 20 or more lesions on Chris's brain, that he is positive that Chris should not have long lasting effects from this, but they are not for sure until he is awake.
He did go into surgery this afternoon to have drains put in his head to remove fluid from around the brain. They think there is more pressure there than originally thought. Fluid was collected during surgery that looked cloudy, so they are testing it to make sure meningitis has not set in. So more tests they are waiting on.
They want to leave him ventilated for now so that if he does need to have more surgeries that they are not having to re-intubate over and over causing more throat irritation.
The neuro Drs. Also think that Chris may have had some small seizures, so they have started him on a pretty high dose of anti seizure meds.
He is in the ICU right now because of brain surgery today.
Chris was a lot less responsive today. Not answering many questions. Fidgeting in the bed like a child and he has now removed all 5 of the stitches on his lip. They have chosen not to restitch as it would be more of an infection risk at this time.
They are wanting to do an EEG on Chris to see what may be going on with his brain waves that they can't see on the CT scans and MRI that have already been taken.

There is a gofundme set up for Chris. Please donate if you can to help with his continued journey.

Day 5:
Chris had a biopsy taken from one of the lesions he has on his brain. This one was on the brain, not actually in the brain like the others so this is the one they chose.
Results will not be in until the end of the week the Dr.s are saying, but they are running viral, bacterial, fungal and parasitic infections because they don't know what they are dealing with.
The areas where the lesions are in his brain have killed the tissue around it, we don't know if this will have any lasting effects, but Chris responding to pain stimulation in all his limbs and his pupils are round and reactive.
They have put in a central line and they are running antibiotics through there for now until they get the results of the biopsy.
He continues to be in the ICU, sedated and intubated at this time.
They currently consider him stable.
He is not having seizures anymore and they did not seeing anything abnormal on the EEG.

Thank you to all that are donating. We appreciate it greatly and will be a huge help to Chris when he is out of the hospital!

Day 7:
Not much has changed for Chris. He is still unresponsive. They are doing neuro checks every couple hours to watch what is happening.
Other than that, not much else.

Thank you for all your continued donations. It is greatly appreciated, you don't know how much it means to his family.

Thank you!
