Help mother honor the memory of her son

On June 2nd, 2021, after not hearing from her son for a few days, our mother performed a wellness check on our brother Jesus E. Carvajal to find him deceased. Jesus was a beloved son, brother, friend, and animal lover. He leaves behind two German Shepherd he rescued and loved so much, his "Fur Monkeys." Jesus was an amazing and strong man, he had a fighting spirit, and a soft heart. He thought of others first, not just family, but his community. As a proud Afro-Latino male, Jesus was victim of mistaken identity empowering him to become an advocate for all people accused crimes which they did not commit.

Nearly three years ago, Jesus was arrested by Las Vegas Metro Police Department and charged for crimes he knew nothing about. Several months later after enduring a combination of jail time and house arrest Jesus was found innocent. Eventually released when a different man was arrested and charged. By then, Jesus had lost it all; his credibility; his managerial job; his car; his credit; and his former partner. His world and reputation were turned upside down. Jesus was stripped of his dignity and left with nothing. Sadly, this is nothing new. Innocent people are left with the burden of paying their own legal fees, and this was the case for Jesus.

When he was released from custody, Jesus struggled to gain employment. The charges still tarnished his record. Jesus decided to fight back against the legal system and discrimination he experienced. His new calling was to fight for his rights and the rights of other people who are left with nothing after our justice system fails them. Jesus risked his life standing against police brutality and injustice when he marched to the Nevada state capital and spoke at many rallies to advocate for his community, which has been plagued by racial profiling and abuse from our justice system for far too long. How many others have been left behind with no monetary restitution once being stripped from dignity and their right for justice? Jesus worked closely with his lawyer, petitioning for restitution and fair treatment but his case fell upon deaf ears. He was stressed and deeply saddened.

We attempted to lend him our support and love, but his feelings of hopelessness and depression took hold of him. Although Jesus did not take his own life, we believe the overwhelming stress and depression lead to his untimely death. We are all in disbelief and are in mourning. In the meantime, we are coming together as a family to support one another and to keep the memory of our beloved Jesus alive and well.

We need help to cover the unexpected funeral cost, and also wish to start a fund to help continue Jesus' fight for both men and women who have been unfairly forced to serve time for crimes they did not commit. Please help us continue his fight for justice. Our goal is one hundred-thousand dollars in this GoFund Me. Twenty thousand dollars will go towards his funeral costs, and the remainder to help continue his case for justice and equality.

We are forever grateful for your generosity and plan to update our progress.

The following links, including a podcast and article by former police officer and criminal investigator Doug Poppa, brings light to the corruption and injustice our beloved Jesus E. Carvajal suffered... Thank you for your time!
