Help Miles, Tanya and Izzy

It was in July 2021, that My daughter Tanya, and her Fiancé Miles bought their very first home together, saving up for more than three years straight to save up for a down payment. The house is beautiful and sat in front of a cliff side and had a beautiful tree house in the back and two apple trees. It had a huge yard for their Dog Izzy to run around in…
My name is Wanda and I am the mother of a beautiful daughter named Tanya and the Universe chosen child Miles (Tanya's Fiance) who have been devastated, heartbroken and rocked to their cores. Please see my daughters post below; two days after her house was hit by flooding, and a tree crashing into their home they in Chilliwack, BC.
Tanya and Miles's house was one of the many homes struck by tragedy in the Fraser Valley, due to major flooding. My children are now staying at a friend’s house (SO many gracious friends willing to help out).
They cannot go ‘home’ and do not have access to any of their stuff, like clothes and even the comforts of home. They are both trying to hang in there, but they are still in shock and their nerves and patience and faith is being tested and wearing thin. Izzy will not leave their side…They are trying to hang onto hope, which is diminishing by the day as news about what the next step is ... yet. They are waiting on many phone calls from many different organizations/banks/city/insurance etc...As I am sure many people are, and we will keep them in our prayers as well.
My best hope for them as a mother watching Miles and Tanya, try to be strong even though they are both still in shock, …my best hope is that we as a community can raise enough money so they do not have to worry and can focus on rebuilding their lives over the next year or more. They have both missed worked this week as the shock is horrific and Miles is still in pain from being pinned against the house and is trying to go back to work as soon as he can. As a mom, I want to tell him to let his body heal and to let the shock dissipate. I know he has a great mom , who is willing to share her son with me, like I am willing to share my Beautiful Tanya with her. These two kids need a break...they need reprieve.
I am so glad they are both alive, and that they have each other to get through this…but I’m worried that it’s too much to handle for them both to be worrying about the mortgage and rental costs elsewhere, or perhaps inspection costs, or whatever else may come up. At this point, there are so many unanswered questions. They aren't even sure if the house will be liveable anytime soon. There are so many questions and none of the comforts of home…as they wait for the chaos to die down in Chilliwack to see if their home can be fixed…there are so many unknowns right now and they are both hanging on by a small string of hope and faith.
My best hope is that they do not have to worry for the next few months as they learn and grow and try to figure out what needs to happen…I know they are both hurting, sad, scared and very proud , hardworking individuals…but we all need help sometimes…It’s not a hand out..It’s a hand up as they have helped so many people in the past themselves. They are both very caring and amazing people. So is my Granddog who can a bit of a drama queen but this time...with everything going on...she can pull out her best drama queen act and her mom and dad will hold extra tight.
Tanya has gone with me for a few years to go hand out hats, scarves, bannock, candy canes, fruit and prayers in the Downtown Eastside. She has always been there for her friends, and sibling and for me as well. She is my first born who has the resilience and strength of the ancestors…but sometimes we do need to rest too. I am hoping to raise the money so Miles and Tan can have a little rest…
I am hoping to raise $15,000 to cover costs for the next few months while waiting to see the verdict on their home, the costs associated while being away from home like clothing, toiletries etc, rent, and to have a money on hand so they aren't so stressed and worried about what is going to happen in the next 6 months. All of BC, will be recovering from this devastating blow.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and send your support and love to Tanya and Miles who are heartbroken and lost :( But they won't tell you that.

Tanya's Post**
A couple nights ago.. Was probably one of the most scariest nights I have ever been through.. It was like having a nightmare you couldn't wake up from.. That I still can't wake up from. The kinds of things you see on TV or in movies that you would never stop to think that it would actually be knocking on your back door.. It was absolute chaos.. Waking up at night to loud banging noises and petrified screaming .. and thinking to myself.. Is someone dying? Is someone at the house..
Searching and calling for Miles but there was no response.. It was like a bad game of Marco, polo. Then my ears started to ring and my body got cold, I looked towards the sliding door.. Opened, home alone and someone is banging on the front door.. I ran to shut the sliding door and when I looked outside.. All I could see was an absolute disaster.. It looked like the stair case was gone and all the trees had fallen from the mountain.. I thought he was gone..
Thankfully, everyone is safe. The fur babies are safe and most importantly Miles is safe. A little banged up and bruised but safe. Even though this has been such a traumatic and triggering experience.. It was been one of the most heart warming experiences you don't get to see everyday.. The kind of peace that looks like the middle of the eye of the storm. Being able to see everyone get together as a team to make sure everyone is okay.
So with that being said, I just wanted to thank everyone from the bottoms of our hearts who has sent us an abundance of love and offered up their homes to us.. We appreciate the heck out of all of you!
My heart also goes out to everyone else who is being effected by this absolute disaster.. Try and stay safe! Stay away from effected areas as anything can happen within a matter of seconds.. If there is anything we can do to help, don't hesitate to ask, we will do our best to offer whatever we can. We are in this together
