Hi everyone

So, plot twist — I was born in the UK. but somehow the Home Office is looking at me like I just landed at Heathrow yesterday. Long story short, I don’t actually have British citizenship yet, and now I’ve been told I need to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). The problem? It costs £2,600. Yes, you read that right. Two. Thousand. Six. Hundred. Pounds. (and no, sadly it does not come with a free holiday to Ibiza, one day I’ll get there ).

I only found out about my “status” situation recently — no letters, no heads up, just surprise, you might not be able to stay in the only country you’ve ever called home. And now there’s a deadline looming in September.

I’m trying to raise the money to cover the ILR application fee and then the British citizenship. I’d like to travel but I have no passport, no settled nationality and it’s not a nice feeling having this restriction on me.
