Richard is my high school sweetheart, and husband of 38 years. Together we have 7 children and 3 grandchildren. He is in the final stages of Huntington’s Disease, a rare and terminal neurodegenerative condition, and we are fully committed to caring for him at home—surrounded by love, dignity, and family. Since 2015, I have cared for Richard full-time, doing everything I can to keep him in the place he knows and loves most. Huntington’s brings both physical and psychiatric challenges, and each day asks more of our family as we walk through this difficult season together.
To meet his growing needs, I stepped away from my work as a Licensed Midwife, and have recently begun baking from home to help support our family. While it has helped, it has not been enough to keep up with the increasing financial strain. Medical needs, daily expenses, and necessary home modifications have become overwhelming.
We are working to complete an addition to our home that will allow each of us to have much needed respite, while also making it possible to transform Richard’s current room into a safe, hospital-style space for his care. This is essential for both his needs and the wellbeing of our entire family.
Reducing our debt would also lift a tremendous weight from my shoulders during a time when I’m unable to work outside the home.
We are doing everything we can to keep Richard at home, where he is surrounded by love and familiarity. Funds raised will go toward:
• Medical needs and equipment
• Daily living expenses
• Debt relief & Care Costs
We are deeply grateful for any support you can give—whether through a donation or simply sharing our story. Your kindness gives us hope and strength to continue to care for Richard in the most loving way possible.
