Hi, my name is Scott Johnston; I am 34 years old from Fresno, California. I was born three months premature and use a wheelchair. While I find a way to do most things, one of the things that I can't do is use a public restroom independently. I often have two choices: 1. I have to think about how much liquid I can drink if someone isn't around while out I'm in public. 2. Stay home where I can take care of my needs. For years I've talked to doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and social workers. Everyone who should have had an answer to my problem just kept giving me the same answer "Don't use catheters unless you have to."
I've looked for an answer to my problem for a long time with no luck. Finally, I had an idea of solving it but needed the right team to help me bring it to reality. So for the past year, I've been working with a local engineering firm to design a device. It would be a first-of-its-kind, single-use, and good for the environment. It would allow wheelchair users (both males and females) to go wherever they want to go and not have to worry about where, when, or how to use the restroom.
Now that I have a designed device, I need help bringing it to fruition. I'm looking to raise $10,000. I will use funds to start making the device and marketing the product. If you can donate, I would appreciate it. You would be helping me, and others like me experience the freedom, independence, privacy, and good health that many people take for granted. Thanks for reading, donating, and sharing!
Scott Johnston
