Hello, this is an update from Hayda Haddad and her family regarding the fundraising campaign.

We started this campaign on December 22, 2023, to secure the costs of Hayda’s treatment in America. After we got an appointment at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, we applied for the visa. We got an interview appointment at the US Consulate in Istanbul, and we had the interview on January 12, 2024. At the end of the interview, the consul requested a letter from Hayda’s doctor explaining why treatment in America is necessary for her condition. Indeed, we requested the letter from the doctor and received it after two weeks. We sent the doctor’s letter and passports by mail to the US consulate and waited, hoping to move to the next level of treatment and care. Unfortunately, our visa application was rejected!

During this short period, many things have changed. For example, Hayda was hospitalized twice within 3 weeks. The second time was due to strange pains that medications couldn’t relieve!

Now at home, Hayda continues to take IV painkillers and fortifiers. Also, recently, her movement mostly relies on a wheelchair due to myopathy, which is one of the complications of cortisone. She has been taking cortisone for a long time at a high concentration due to lung complications, and these complications are why Hayda depends on oxygen inside and outside the house! It is a tough, difficult, and complex situation.

All of this while we have no health insurance and no source of income. At the same time, the cost of treatment, medications, tests, and living expenses keeps increasing continuously, and the figures are crazy! For example, the last time Hayda was hospitalized, we paid $6,000 in 5 days for hospitalization, treatment, and tests.

Long story short : since the crisis began a year ago until now, the total amount we spent during the treatment journey and living requirements is over $230,000. Both the first fundraising campaign and the current campaign, together, provided approximately $150,000. These donations have contributed to saving Hayda’s life more than once. Now we must continue to secure the appropriate medical care for her condition, and without your solidarity, this journey becomes impossible. Your donations and support will help us continue the fight. Please share the campaign with your family, friends, and acquaintances. Tell them about Hayda, the strong woman who loves people and life. Pray for her patience in enduring what she is going through, pray for her to recover completely, and return to her life with her daughter, family, and loved ones.

Thymic Carcinoma. I have been battling this aggressive cancer for almost a year with the traditional chemotherapy along with radiation and immunotherapy.

What's the news? recently I had a PET-CT and the results came really shocking, especially after a long and extremely painful journey of 5 surgical interventions, one of which was a major operation, 15 chemotherapy doses, 3 immunotherapy doses and 51 radiation sessions, also chemotherapy capsules at a total dose of 1400 grams, along with a wide range of antibiotics, cortisone, and other means to strengthen my body, despite all the above I learned that the cancer is still spreading to other organs in my exhausted body, and now we need to start seriously looking for clinical trials and other innovative treatments and interventions.

I do not want my 10 years old daughter to grow up without a mother in her life. I lost my mother at an early age, and to this day, I suffer from her absence in my life. After all these years, my need for my mom has not diminished; it continues to increase, and not having her embrace me when I am in dire need of it torments me. I do not want my daughter to go through the same experience of not having her mother in her life.

I didn't give up and will never do, I have a strong belief that I will survive this disease and live for my daughter, family and loved ones. I’m always optimistic and try to focus on the best-case scenario. For that, I would like to share some good news with all of you, a light at the end of this dark tunnel. I was able to secure an appointment at MD Anderson Cancer center, one of the best cancer therapy centers in the world, it has the most advanced treatments and cutting-edge technologies in treating cases like mine. My appointment with them is next month (hoping to get my urgent treatment visa application accepted).

Your support in any shape or form is what kept me going until now. Based on that, I have no doubt that I will be able to cover the expenses of the upcoming treatment journey, either at MD Anderson or any other possible destination. This is going to be expensive, however, with your continued generosity, I can hold on this great opportunity to beat this disease. I need all of you now more than ever.

لمدة عام تقريبًا، كنت أحارب هذا السرطان الشرس بالعلاج الكيميائي التقليدي إلى جانب العلاج الإشعاعي والعلاج المناعي.

ما الجديد؟ لقد أجريت مؤخرًا فحص PET-CT وكانت النتائج صادمة حقًا، خاصة بعد رحلة طويلة ومؤلمة للغاية مكونة من 5 تدخلات جراحية، إحداها عملية كبرى و15 جرعة علاج كيميائي و3 جرعات علاج مناعي و51 جلسة إشعاع، وأيضًا كبسولات علاج كيميائي بجرعة إجمالية 1400 جرام، إلى جانب مجموعة واسعة من المضادات الحيوية والكورتيزون وغيرها من وسائل تقوية جسدي، ورغم كل ما سبق علمت أن السرطان لا يزال ينتشر إلى أعضاء أخرى من جسدي المنهك، والآن نحتاج لبدء البحث بجدية عن التجارب السريرية وغيرها من العلاجات والتدخلات المبتكرة.

لا أريد أن تكبر ابنتي البالغة من العمر 10 سنوات بدون أم في حياتها. لقد فقدت والدتي في سن مبكرة، وإلى يومنا هذا أعاني من غيابها في حياتي. بعد كل هذه السنوات، لم تقل حاجتي لأمي؛ ولا تزال تتزايد، وعدم احتضانها لي عندما أكون في أمس الحاجة إليها يعذبني. لا أريد أن تمر ابنتي بنفس التجربة المتمثلة في عدم وجود والدتها في حياتها.

لم أستسلم ولن أفعل أبدًا، لدي إيمان قوي بأنني سأنجو من هذا المرض وأعيش من أجل ابنتي وعائلتي وأحبائي. أنا متفائلة دائمًا وأحاول التركيز على أفضل السيناريوهات. ولهذا، أود أن أشارككم جميعًا بعض الأخبار الجيدة، لقد تمكنت من حجز موعد في مركز إم دي أندرسون للسرطان، وهو أحد أفضل مراكز علاج السرطان في العالم، يمتلك أحدث العلاجات والتقنيات المتطورة في علاج الحالات المعقدة مثل حالتي. موعدي معهم هو الشهر المقبل (على أمل قبول طلب تأشيرة العلاج).
