Happenstance
Happenstance, owned by sisters Morning and Patti, has been one of the most beautiful, peaceful properties in the City of Muskegon for decades. In addition to the birds, squirrels, rabbits, deer and other wildlife that this property has provided for - neighbors, tourists and artists from across the world have been welcomed to enjoy the tranquility and beauty here.
Due to new housing developments being built, many of the trees, bushes, etc have been removed. This has caused a significant amount of property damage at Happenstance and a dramatic loss of habitat for a variety of wildlife including Big Brown Bats, Hairy Woodpeckers and many many others. The tree removal has also caused an extreme removal of privacy and quiet space - impacting the ability for Happenstance to provide space for artists to create.
Money is being raised to replace much of the natural habitat for our wildlife such as berry bushes, advanced trees, etc. While also bringing back the privacy needed to continue the art collective Happenstance has established within the global art community.
Some of the trees that need to be planted are up to $200 each and it is all adding up quickly. All money raised will be poured back into the revival of Happenstance. We will be having a community plant day in Spring 2021 to get everything in the ground and would appreciate anyone able to volunteer (more details coming later), bring your shovel!
