Update: Sadly, in March 2022 Emigdio lost his battle with Lymphoma. He has left a huge void in the lives of those who love him. Emigdio was cremated and a service was held for him with friends and family. Thank you to all who helped out our father financially, sent food, and lent emotional support.

Unfortunately, his Lymphoma was so expensive. The debt over the past 3 years of keeping our household afloat was tremendous and scary. Paying off utilities with credit cards and taking out a personal loan to be able to cremate our wonderful father was needed to be able to accomplish a loving send off for such an amazing man, Father, Friend, Son, and Coach. Any help is still very much appreciated to help reach out goal.

He now joins his recently departed Mother, recently departed Father, 2 brothers, and his departed dog Bruno in heaven.

In late 2019, our father, Emigdio, developed some issues with his skin and we couldn't figure out what it was. After many trips to different doctors and specialists, we ruled out skin allergies, eczema, and so many other skin conditions. He was finally diagnosed with T-cell Cutaneous Lymphoma in June of 2020 and began treatments shortly after. Only about 4% of non-Hodgkins Lymphomas are this type of specific Lymphoma so his treatments have varied greatly with many different types of chemotherapies and so many different side effects as limited research is available. He's been such a trooper through hair loss, and so many other difficult side effects of his varying treatments.

My sister and I jumped into caregiving mode and have been sharing the responsibilities thus far with the help of our family and friends. However, as tough and resilient as our wonderful father is, due to his health, he has no longer been able to work for some time now. As a family, we've been supporting him the best we can, but my father needs more support in these coming months as he will be getting a stem cell transplant soon and will need round-the-clock home care for about 3 months in a very sanitary home environment which requires us to purchase equipment and supplies.

This type of cancer just like so many others are emotionally, physically, mentally, and very financially impactful for the entire family, especially for our father, so we are asking for help to keep maintaining and paying for things like medical costs and supplies, transportation, household bills, and upkeep as we are approaching the point where our family won't be able to keep up with the expenses anymore on our own. He will be fighting this Lymphoma for the foreseeable future so we need ongoing donations as soon as possible as we will be in dire need of financial support within the next 3 months with continuous donations. The goal is for our father to focus on just getting better and not his financial responsibilities so he can get better and back to doing the things he loves, like playing soccer and safely spending time with friends, and family since he's been pretty isolated due to the pandemic and him intermittently being severely immunocompromised. 

Other ways to help: Groceries are a huge help as he is mostly plant-based. He loves fruits, vegetables, and smoothies. Feel free to reach out if you would like to drop off groceries. Video calls, phone calls, and texts are always a great way to catch up with him as well.
