Neville Roderick Arandez or Eric as he is fondly called by his siblings is the middle child to Neville Boy Arandez and Norma Arandez.
He is a young and vibrant father of 4 and a caring husband to Joan. He is a selfless father, always thinking of the needs of his family and of his children first before thinking of himself.
Eric is in his 50’s, a Human Resources Manager of a home construction company in the Philippines. A very responsible yet a most approachable team player.
Eric (Bong’s, Geri’s , Hazel’s and Charmaine’s brother) needs your help. Although he may not be known to you, the spirit of those people whom you do know and related to him, call out to you. You may see the very same chin, the cheeks, the eyes of your friend, your co-worker or your relative resonate in you. The kindness that has touched you in the form of Hazel, of Geri, of Charmaine or of Bong call out to you now and we ask that that very connection call out to your kind generosity and help Eric in his and of his family’s grave need.
Eric is now in the hospital, fighting for his life. He has had multiple strokes which is secondary to a confirmed cancer. Early on his hospital admission, he suffered from shortness of breath due to pleural effusion and pericardiac fluid accumulation which led to cardiac tamponade. An emergency pericardium synthesis was done. Shunts were placed to drain the fluid accumulation in the heart and lungs. The heart shunt remains in place. He subsequently suffered 2 strokes, a week apart. He is now in a minimally conscious state, with emerging movements on his left arm but definitely paralysis on his right side of the body. He is currently intubated but will likely need to have a tracheostomy done soon. Amidst all this, a diagnosis of cancer has been confirmed but there is no confirmation yet of the type and staging. For now, we know that there is a hypercoagulable state of his blood due to the cancer and he is still at risk of developing further strokes if this is not managed well. Eric is fighting for his life and continues to receive treatment at the hospital and hopefully will recover from this minimally conscious state.
His wife, his siblings and most importantly his children are hopeful that you would consider contributing in this fund-raising initiative in order to help defray the cost of his increasingly ballooning hospital bills, which at this time is now close to 1 Million pesos.
His siblings and extended family are helping out financially but as with any out of pocket resource- these will eventually dry out. Health care in the Philippines, is very unlike the health care found in the western parts of the world. Each glove, suction tube, gauze, diaper, bed sheet are all paid for by the patient and family.
We appeal for your kind generosity and hope to achieve his $20, 000 Cdn goal, which is equivalent to 740,000 pesos (1 Cdn = 37 Pesos) in the Philippines.
