Help ease Pastor R Rivera's burden battling cancer
Donation protected
Our Fundraising Team, Eddie's Amigos, are all dear friends of Pastor Eddie Rivera. Pastor Eddie has walked with us through our own journeys, which include the loss of loved ones. He means so much to not only us, but all those who know him. The Rev. Dr. Eduardo Rivera, is the El Paso District Superintendent, for the New Mexico Conference.
Last month, after 10 days in the hospital at University Medical Center of El Paso, Tx., the Rev. Dr. Ruben Pedro Rivera, was diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma that has spread to other parts of his body. He is the father of Rev. Dr. Eduardo (Eddie) Rivera. Pastor Ruben has started a treatment that his Oncologist recommended. Medically speaking the treatment will add a few more months with some quality of life. Of course, we know, God has the last word.
During his 88 years of life, Pastor Ruben has devoted 71 years to serving God as a pastor in the Methodist Church of Mexico. In fact, last June, on Father's Day, when he was diagnosed with his cancer, he was still pastoring Iglesia Camino al Cielo, a congregation that belongs to the Methodist Church of Mexico and is a church that he planted in El Paso 5 years ago. During his time at the hospital, his dedication for his church was evident. He kept on recording his sermons so that they could be broadcast and placed on his church's Facebook page on Sundays. He still is depending on his strength to serve his church until the day God calls him home.
Pastor Ruben has written several books and contributed to a few others. Because of his diagnosis, he has had to step down from his appointment as a District Superintendent of the Juarez District. His wife, Myriam Rivera, is courageously accompanying and supporting him during this time.
Pastor Ruben does not have Health Insurance and these funds will help him with the treatment he needs as well as help with the costs of his past and future hospitalizations. Both Pastors Ruben and Eddie Rivera have given so much to their church communities. Please help support this family through your generosity. If you can't donate at this time, please share to help us get the word out.
Thank you and God Bless each and everyone of you!
