Update 24/06/2025 -
Atlas has come out of a very successful but complex surgery to repair his spine, we have managed to agree terms to repay the hospital over the coming months, he is in recovery, he is awake and has full movement of his legs again. Now we are in for a long time of rehab and careful care. But for clarity sake any funds now go to repaying the veterinary bill of £9000 and future care costs. Thank you for your support
Hi, my name is Rob and I never thought I'd be making a go fund me, or that this would be the situation we'd find ourselves in. We've always had insurance and unfortunately the moment we didnt, the worst has happened.
On the 21st June, I left for the gym like any normal day, but upon returning my boy couldn't walk, he'd lost all control of his hind legs and was in a pain I'd never seen. We rushed him to the vet who gave him pain killers and other meds that he could only take if hes eaten. On comes the next day, still refusing to eat or drink where hydration became a worry in this heat I took him back to the vet who referred him to the vet hospital (southfields) after an already expensive MRI scan it was found that he'd slipped a disc in his chest region between L2&L3 that was causing his issues, with the treatment being surgery the hefty cost of £8000-10000 has been requested. We've already bankrupted ourselves trying to come up with it and so I'm turning here out of desperation to help my boy.
Anyone who's ever met Atlas will tell you hes the sweetest dog you could ever meet, a friendly kind hearted soul that wants nothing more than a treat and some attention. He's been my best friend for 10 years from the moment I held him as a pup, hes saved me from not only countless mental health crisis, but has literally and genuinely saved me from a home fire a few years ago. I can't stand the idea that I'm letting him down and the idea of him not walking properly again is horrendous. I dont like to ask... I dont like using these sites for no reason. But I think Atlas is one reason that merits it. So if you can help, please do.
Thank you!
Atlas is currently under hospital care keeping him hydrated and pain free, today we will most likely have to bring him home while we rally the funds to save him!
The funds raised here go directly to the cost of his surgery and post op care
