Hi everyone. My name is Breanna, Julie Villegas's daughter. On September 20th my mom Julie came to visit me and flew into Denver Airport. She was complaining that her leg was hurting for a couple of days and by the end of the travel day she could no longer use or feel her left leg. I took her to Cheyenne Hospital (Wyoming) where they did tests and informed us that she had suffered a stroke in the previous weeks. (She had gone to the E.R. in California a couple of weeks back complaining of headaches and one side of her face drooping, and was told nothing was wrong and went back home). This was really hard news for her and our family to grasp. With a few more tests, the Cheyenne Hospital discovered that she had a clogged artery that was causing the numbness in her left leg. She was promptly airlifted to a hospital in Denver that specializes in strokes and was able to receive a surgery/procedure on 9/21/23. They were able to fix the blockage in her right artery, and also fix a tear in the artery as well. While those were fixed, there are still other concerns the doctors have for her recovery. This blockage was located between her neck and the bottom of her skull. They also placed stents on her brain to help the blood flow back to her brain and hopefully help with her left side of the body weakness (leg and arm). It is now 9/22/23 and we are unsure how long she will be here in the Neuro ICU. She still does not have the function of her left arm and leg. There is a long recovery road ahead for her and we are really still trying to process everything. Her spirits are high and she wants to get back to her normal self. I am hoping some of this money can help her pay for some bills, and allow my dad to come visit her from California while she is stuck here in Denver. I am trying to get all the answers I can, and trying to do the best that I can for her. I live about 2 1/2 hours away, so the days have been long, but if you have any questions, concerns, advice, or prayers. I am all ears. Any and all donations will go to helping my dad visit, and offset any bills that may be piling up while she is in the hospital for the next couple of weeks. Timeline is all dependent on so many factors. Right now the main goal is to preserve brain tissue, and that’s where we are at in the neuro ICU.
If you know my mom, she would give the shirt off her back for anyone in need. She is the glue that keeps our family together and is always there for anyone who needs her. This has been super difficult for all of us, and I really appreciate any support and positivity during this time.
