Help Build Steps for Sharelle’s Freedom
Donation protected
Currently there are 12 steep leaning stairs. There will be 17 new stairs, making it easier to maneuver to the car.

The new deck will extend to the freezer to make access easier.

The deck will be raised to the bottom of the door to avoid an extra step.

Help Build Safe Steps for Sharelle’s Freedom
We’re raising funds to build a safe and sturdy deck and staircase for my daughter, Sharelle, who is on an inspiring path to recovery.
For a long time, Sharelle relied on a wheelchair and wasn’t able to leave the house due to unsafe, crumbling steps. But thanks to her determination and months of healing, she’s now walking short distances with a cane!
Now, the only thing standing between her and the outside world is a set of dangerously leaning, unstable stairs that you can see in the photos. These steps are not just worn — they’re unsafe, and they’ve kept her isolated far too long.
Why We Need Your Help
Sharelle lives in Alaska, where materials are often expensive due to high shipping costs, or they're simply unavailable in local stores. The total cost to build a new accessible deck and staircase is $17,000. Thanks to the generosity of community members, we've raised $2,000 so far, leaving us with $15,000 still needed. The current stairs won’t make it through another winter, so construction is scheduled for the end of August.
Each board of this project costs around $25 in materials, and with every donation, you’re helping us quite literally build a path for Sharelle to get back into the world.
What This Means for Sharelle
This deck isn’t just wood and nails — it’s a lifeline. With safe steps:
- Sharelle will be able to leave the house more easily with her cane.
- She’ll gain the freedom to attend appointments, enjoy fresh air, and continue her physical recovery.
- She’ll have the dignity and independence she deserves.
How You Can Help
❤️Donate any amount — every dollar helps us get closer.
❤️Share this campaign with friends, family, and on social media.
❤️Sponsor a board — even $25 replaces one more piece of unsafe material with hope and safety.
We’re deeply grateful for your kindness, prayers, and support. With your help, Sharelle’s next steps will be on solid ground — both physically and in her healing journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
