As the situation for women continues to deteriorate in Afghanistan, more need support with completing humanitarian visas to find safety abroad. One particular group of concern are those who served as female police officers under the previous government. These courageous women fought for human, women, and children’s rights to promote a safer and democratic Afghanistan and the rule of law.
Well known to the current Afghan government, policewomen in various provinces and Kabul have been targeted while others have gone into hiding or fled the country.
For one such family fleeing to Pakistan, we are raising funds to help them with:
(1) the legal costs for a refugee application to Australia (AU$6,000 for a family of 6 - we have paid the first $2,000 of this already); and
(2) provide financial support to them and their children for daily living in Pakistan given the head of household will have no means of income while they wait for their application to be processed (US$300 per month for 24 months)
Please donate generously so we can support these women to safety.
