LOCAL MOM NEEDS IMMEDIATE HELP
From the recipient's mom:
"As a local mother with two young children, she was managing a busy life until illness struck about six months ago. Unfortunately, her husband chose not to support her “in sickness,” and she is in the process of getting divorced.
She has finally received a confirmed diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis, which explains some of her symptoms, and the treatment is thankfully working. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the neuromuscular junction, the point where nerves meet muscles. It causes muscle weakness that worsens with activity and improves with rest (hard to do with two young kids). Symptoms include weakness in the arm and leg muscles, double vision, and difficulties with speech and chewing.
This mom moved into an apartment and continues to suffer a host of other symptoms not explained by the MG diagnosis. She has an upcoming visit at the Cleveland Clinic but doesn’t have the funds to travel there. (She looked into getting a referral to the University of Michigan, but was told they treat horses; the Cleveland Clinic can treat zebras.)
This mom is currently not receiving any support from her husband, has incurred thousands of dollars of uncovered medical expenses, and already has over $10,000 in attorney fees. She took out a loan for the retainer. Her disability salary covers rent, but nothing more. Child support should start soon (hopefully), but she continues to fall behind.
Any help, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated."
