Help Zach in his fight against blood cancer

Hello friends,

Those of you lucky enough to know Zach know his positive outlook on life and how he will always go out of the way to make someone laugh and help someone in need! This fundraiser is to support Zach while he is undergoing experimental treatment for MyeloDysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

Zach was diagnosed in August 2022 with MDS on the cusp of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). MDS is a condition that can occur when the blood-forming cells in the bone marrow become abnormal. Unfortunately the cancer was unresponsive to chemotherapy rounds hence, Zach is currently undergoing treatment designed for AML patients approved for young adults in May 2019. The treatment called Venetoclax is supplemented with an injection called azicitadine, both of which are only partially covered by OHIP.

Subject to his responsiveness to AML treatment, Zach will subsequently require a bone marrow transplant in the new year. Unfortunately, he will not be able to resume work until summer 2023 at the earliest. These funds will be used to pay for his monthly medical expenses not covered by OHIP and assist with living expenses during the course of his treatments so he can focus on getting better!

Zach appreciates all the support, thoughts and prayers that continue to come his way. He continues to crack jokes and maintains a positive outlook.
