Learn More About this Project and the Goal to build a new home for We Love to Play


Our name is We Love to Play. We are a 501c3 non-profit based in Minnesota.  We’ve been organizing adapted sports programs for more than 26 years.  Hundreds of amateur athletes with disabilities have participated in our program.  We offer hockey, softball, and soccer.

Minnesota is on the forefront of adapted sports, being the first and only state to offer high school students with physical and cognitive disabilities the opportunity to participate in competitive sports with the rules written specifically for them. We Love to Play was built on the sports that these kids played in school and to give them the chance to continue playing once they've graduated.

It’s hard to run an adapted sports program without an adapted sports home. We run our events in any gymnasium we can find.  Our goal is to build the first independent adapted sports facility from the ground up. Be a model for the rest of the country …if not the world.  

We want to build a facility that we can share with other like minded organizations to provide a permanent home for our program and others. We want to promote the growth of various adapted sports activities, either by building the programs within We Love to Play or provide a home for existing organizations. As the interest grows and the facility reaches more programs, we want to see it become an all inclusive sports complex for a wide variety of adapted activities.

Our project, being the first of its kind, has attracted interest from three cities in Minnesota. They want a sports program like We Love to Play in their communities.
