Unfortunately, it still appears compromised, and she struggles to consistently put full weight on her leg. At this point, I don’t believe it’s going to heal properly without surgery. The vet has recommended ACL repair surgery, which should allow her to heal properly and return to a normal, active life.
The estimated cost for the surgery is about $5,000, with approximately $2,000 for follow-up visits, medication, and recovery care, and another $1,000 set aside as a buffer in case of any complications or additional treatment she might need during recovery.
Violet is more than just a pet to me. I got her after my separation to be a companion for the days when I don’t have my daughter. Over the last five years I’ve been through a lot. I’ve had some really hard days. But having Violet these past two years, has been a real source of comfort during some of the toughest times.
Historically, she went everywhere with me. We were always out together, and she loved being part of whatever I was doing. Since her injury, though, I haven’t been able to take her anywhere, and it’s been hard for both of us. I miss having my girl out and about with me, and I know she misses it too.
As many of you know, I’m in a wheelchair and live on disability, so an unexpected expense like this is extremely difficult for me to handle on my own. I tried to give Violet time to heal naturally, but it’s clear now that surgery is the best path forward for her. She’s been stuck at home for months watching the world go by, and she would love nothing more than to run, play, and explore again without pain.
Any help at all—no matter the amount—would mean a lot to both of us. If you’re not able to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would help tremendously.
Any additional funds raised beyond the goal will go directly toward Violet’s ongoing care and recovery. Thank you for helping Violet get back to living the happy, active life she deserves.
