Every day, hundreds of animals on Koh Phangan depend on SUSA.

Around 95 dogs live at SUSA Home. Many of them are elderly, sick, injured, or simply have nowhere else to go.

But our work goes far beyond the SUSA Home.

Every day, we help provide food and care for around 200 additional dogs across Koh Phangan, as well as cats and kittens in need of food, medical treatment, foster care or emergency help.

SUSA is entirely volunteer-run. There is no paid team behind this work. Our volunteers give their time without payment, alongside their own jobs and personal lives. Behind every rescue, feeding round, sterilisation or adoption is also a huge amount of work that often goes unseen – coordinating rescue cases, foster homes and transport, organising sterilisation efforts, fundraising, managing donations and partnerships, volunteer coordination, social media and much more.

As donations currently do not cover the full cost of our work, many of us also regularly contribute our own money towards food, medical care, equipment, transport and other everyday expenses to keep SUSA running.

Caring for so many animals comes with significant ongoing costs. Food alone is a major daily expense, but our work also includes medical care, parasite prevention, foster care for animals recovering or waiting for adoption, rescue and sterilisation logistics, transportation and essential supplies.

Transportation and rescue logistics are an essential part of our daily work. We travel across the island to feed animals, respond to rescue cases and transport animals to veterinary appointments.

Rescue often comes with unexpected medical needs. While PACS provides invaluable veterinary support, including vaccinations, medications and sterilisation, some animals require additional treatment or emergency care. In these cases, SUSA covers the costs needed to make sure they receive the care they need.

Sterilisation plays a key role in creating long-term change for animals on Koh Phangan. We help identify and catch street and community animals, transport them to PACS for sterilisation, and return them safely afterwards.

Every few months, we also collaborate with an animal welfare charity from Koh Samui to organise large-scale sterilisation campaigns on Koh Phangan. These campaigns are coordinated locally by SUSA volunteers. During a five-day campaign in April 2026 alone, around 400 dogs and cats were sterilised.

We also support local people who care for street and community animals but cannot always afford enough food or necessary veterinary treatment themselves.

We are incredibly grateful for the support we already receive from local restaurants, businesses, foster families, volunteers and people across Koh Phangan. This community makes so much of our work possible.

But even with this incredible local support, the ongoing costs of caring for hundreds of animals are more than we can cover alone.

Your donation will help us provide:

• Food for around 95 dogs at SUSA Home and around 200 dogs across Koh Phangan

• Veterinary treatment and emergency care when not covered by our veterinary partners

• NexGard and other parasite prevention

• Foster care and supplies, providing rescued animals with a safe place to stay while they recover or wait for their forever homes

• Transportation and rescue logistics, including fuel for feeding rounds, rescues and veterinary visits

• Sterilisation logistics, including catching street and community animals, transporting them to and from PACS, and treats and supplies needed to safely catch and move them

• Essential supplies for the animals in our care

• Support for cats, kittens and other community animals

This fundraiser is not for one individual animal or one specific project. It supports SUSA’s daily work, and donations will be used wherever they are needed most.

Our €5,000 goal is a first milestone toward covering these ongoing costs. Caring for hundreds of animals is a daily responsibility, and the need continues long after this goal is reached.
