Help Make The Thompson Family Home Accessible

Donation protected
Hello everyone, our dear friends, Reid and Sharon Thompson, recently received devastating news. Reid was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, on Friday, May 13th, 2022. He is already having difficulty walking and doing normal everyday things, like picking up his two sweet boys, Montford (4) & Myers (2). Reid is wearing leg braces to help prolong his current mobility, but his doctor said to be prepared to be in a wheelchair in as little as six months.

ALS is a very rare and deadly disease of the nervous system that weakens your muscles and thus impacts your physical mobility. The average survival time with ALS is two to five years, though some have been known to survive ten years or more with ALS. (PRAYERS NEEDED!) With this weighing heavy on our friends, we wanted to know what we could do to help make this difficult period just a little easier. So, I reached out to Sharon and asked if they would consider letting me set up this GO FUND ME, to help get their home more accessible.

Sharon and Reid love Greenville, their neighborhood, and their neighbors. Rather than uprooting and moving to a new house in this already emotionally crazy time, they would like to make their current home wheelchair ready. This includes a ramp for Reid to enter their house and an ADA bathroom. Contractors are in high demand, and building supplies are at all-time highs, so every single donation, big or small, will help.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping support Reid, Sharon, Montford & Myers. They will need a strong village of support during these difficult times ahead. Please follow Sharon's Caring Bridge website for updates on Reid's condition and for other ways you can help their family.   More information about ALS is available at www.ALS.org .  Again Thank YOU!

If you wish to avoid Go Fund Me fees, you may mail checks directly to Sharon & Reid or Venmo Sharon at @SharonSliderThompson.
