Medical Updates:
In December 2024, TC had a scheduled knee replacement surgery. He made progress and planned to return to work on January 27th, but his knee became septic in early January, requiring another surgery. He resumed physical therapy and was discharged due to progress. He also had IV antibiotics with a PICC line, which was nearing removal.
On February 14, drainage began from his thigh incision, intensifying over the next 24 hours and becoming uncontrollable on Sunday. Visiting nurses ruled out a blood clot, and it was determined to be a “seroma.” Another surgery was needed to wash out the wound and assess for infections or tears in the quad muscle or tendon. It’s uncertain if a fourth surgery is necessary.
TC remains out of work and unable to earn income. He lacks short-term disability coverage to support this extended absence. They had planned for 4-6 weeks without income, but it’s been 10 weeks with an additional 4-6 weeks of recovery likely, which wasn’t factored into their projections.
Note from the Fundraising Team:
For those that don’t know Millie and TC personally, they are incredibly generous, hard-working and loving people. They have fostered multiple children, all who have been adopted into loving homes. They are raising their great-niece and awesome adult son. As a social worker, Millie works with the intellectual and developmental disability community.
TC referees for youth sports leagues and manages locally-owned Afendoulis Cleaners & Tuxedos. They love God, each other, their kids, and their church.
For those of us who love the Emery’s, we know that they would do anything to support their friends and family. Most of us have asked what we can do to help with their situation. Here is an option that will have a big impact: Removing the worry and fear that financial insecurity brings during a medical crisis. The Emery’s would never ask for this help themselves, so I am asking you to please support this family who need a community to rally around them.
If you are unable to give, would you be willing to post this on your social media to spread the word?
Would you please pray continuously that TC will be healed and be able to return to work, and that our efforts to support them would be successful?
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NASB
