09/28/24 Update
I'm pleased to report that on 09/27 at 2 pm I wired the funds to reinstate my account, hopefully ending a four year period that brought 3 foreclosure attempts, 3 car repossessions, 3 hospitalizations, 2 COVID diagnoses and numerous other challenges. Talk about unprecidented!
But it also brought many good things. The most meaningful is how it led to reconnecting with friends I had fallen out of touch with. I haven't yet been able to respond to everyone individually but I will as time allows!
For now, a HUGE collective thankyou from the bottom of my heart! More later, XO
Brian
09/07/24 Update
So the bank postponed the sale of my house!
It is still in foreclosure and will be until the bank receives the funds to bring it current. The new amount will include another mortgage pmt plus $200 in fees.
Were it not for this campaign, and your donations, I would have "lost" my house. After working on it for 11 years and seeing it's value triple, I was getting evicted again. All because my credit score is too low and I didn't have and the support I needed.
But I'm not going to lose my house. Because a friend has offered to loan me the difference between funds raised and money owed.
The more raised, the less owed. And a lower payment increases the likelihood of my success.
If all goes according to plan, by month's end I will once again be driving for dollars! My pre-pandemic goal was to to get my TCP license and sever ties with Uber and lyft. There are many ways to monetize my car.
Stay tuned!
Thanks for reading.
Please spread the word!
Sincerely,
Brian

Hello everyone!
Greetings from Sacramento!
This is Brian Green and I live in the house pictured above. Just me with my two dogs, Pumpkin & Jasper. The house is barely visible, being obscured by shade trees I planted after moving here in 2013 from San Francisco. After enjoying a 30 year run in SF, I was evicted from a rent-controlled flat in the Mission District where I had lived for 24 years. I couldn't afford to stay in the bay area and wound up looking for a place in Sacramento. I had gone to High School in South Lake Tahoe so planting roots here, between SF and Tahoe, the two places on earth I love the most, felt right.
My house is currently in foreclosure and will be auctioned on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, unless my bank receives the funds to bring it current by Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024.
I first defaulted on my mortgage in March of 2020. This is my 3rd time on the foreclosure rollercoaster. The first 2 times it was brought current with grants from the California Mortgage Relief Fund, funded by the Federal Government.
I purchased the house in June of 2013 for $122K. By the spring of 2018, after refinancing twice, it was clear I needed an additional source of income to make ends meet. So I started driving for Lyft and Uber. Things were working out better than I expected until the pandemic. I stopped driving because I am in a high-risk category. Losing that income, with a higher mortgage plus a car payment, meant I was living in the red more than ever. To sum it up, things got dark, then darker. I try not to spend too much time thinking about those times. I'm not going back! I'm in a much better place now and not ready to throw in the towel. I've put a lot of work into this house and there is more to do.
You might be wondering why I've left things until the 11th hour. Things have progressed this far because I believed that with a LTV of 41% I would be able to access my equity, which is well over $200K. But with a low credit score and a history of defaulting, I don't qualify for any of the products offered by traditional banks, hard money lenders, etc. Applications for Equity Share Agreements were also denied. I thought I would qualify for a reverse mortgage, but because I have defaulted, and other reasons, I don't qualify.
It has been a demoralizing process to go through.
On the bright side, I still have hope. If I can hold on to my house, I will eventually gain access to the equity. Then I can put in a second bath and rent two rooms with a private bath that will help cover the mortgage, the cost of a new roof, solar panels, a nip here and a tuck there, and you'll never guess she turned 90 this year!
So in a nutshell, that's how I have arrived at this place.
Thanks for your time and consideration. And please spread the word.
Sincerely,
Brian
