Help Me Win the World Long Drive Championship 2027

I Won Bronze at the World Championship While Running on Empty. Imagine What I Can Do Healthy.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Hi, I'm Sonya.

I'm 29, from Holzkirchen near Munich, and golf isn't just what I do — it's the heartbeat of my life.

I played in the German Golf Bundesliga. I've competed internationally on the Long Drive circuit. And in 2024, I stood on the podium at the World Long Drive Championship — finishing 3rd on the entire planet.

What almost nobody knew? My body was quietly fighting a battle that would have broken most people completely.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Here's what I need you to understand first.

When I took 3rd place at the 2024 World Championship and claimed the 2023 European Championship title, I was simultaneously living with:

  • ME/CFS triggered by chronic Epstein-Barr virus
  • Long Covid and persistent immune dysfunction
  • Mitochondrial dysfunction — my cells genuinely struggle to convert oxygen into usable energy
  • Near zero structured training — because my body often simply couldn't tolerate it

I didn't win those titles despite being sick.
I won them while being sick, without being able to train properly.

If that doesn't make you wonder what I'm capable of when I'm actually healthy — keep reading.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Every single day, I show up for myself.

Before I ask anything of you, I want you to know what I already do — because this is not a story of someone waiting to be rescued.

Every day, regardless of how I feel, I:

  • Cook my own anti-inflammatory meals from scratch — no shortcuts, no convenience food, because what I eat is medicine and I treat it that way

  • Walk — even on hard days, even when it's slow, because movement is non-negotiable

  • ‍Meditate to manage my nervous system, reduce the neurological stress load that directly worsens my condition

  • Use red-light panel therapy daily at home to support mitochondrial function and cellular repair

  • Pay for my own supplement protocol — because the basic foundations of my recovery come out of my own pocket, every month, without exception

I am already doing everything within my power and my budget. I have been doing it for years.

What I'm asking you to fund is everything above that line — the specialized treatments that are completely beyond my financial reach, and that no German health insurance will cover by even a single euro.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Here's the brutal financial reality.

Right now, I'm on German statutory sick pay — Krankengeld — which runs until October. It keeps a roof over my head. Barely.

I am too ill to work full-time. That's not a choice — it's a medical fact.
And any part-time income I could realistically earn wouldn't even exceed what sick pay already provides — meaning it would cost me more in health setbacks than it would ever return financially.

I am not able to earn my way out of this situation. Not yet.
The treatments I need are precisely what would get me to the point where I can.

It's a cruel catch-22 that thousands of people with chronic illness know all too well: you need money to get well enough to earn money.

I'm asking you to help me break that cycle.

─────────────────────────────────────────

I'm at 80%. The podium needs 100%.

The good news — and there genuinely is good news — is that I'm no longer at rock bottom. I'm at roughly 80% energy capacity. I can play golf once a week. The direction is forward.

But I still face real, stubborn barriers:

  • Histamine overload that triggers immune flares without warning
  • Reactive Epstein-Barr that flares the moment I push physically
  • Low intracellular ATP — my cellular engine still can't run at full power

The gap between once a week on a good day and training like a world-class athlete is exactly what these treatments are designed to close.

─────────────────────────────────────────

My goal: World Long Drive Champion 2027. Here's what it takes.

Every euro donated goes to one of these four areas — nothing else:

  • Advanced Lab Diagnostics — ~€2,000. Precision tracking of ATP levels, EBV activity, histamine & immune markers — so my treatment is guided by data, not guesswork.

  • IV Therapy (Glutathione, Vitamin C, Alpha-Lipoic Acid) — ~€1,500. The mitochondrial and immune support my body needs but can't get through food or oral supplements alone.

  • Intensive Treatment Protocol — Coolzone Madeira — ~€4,000. HBOT, cold exposure, infrared, sauna & lymphatic drainage — the same recovery stack used by elite professional athletes worldwide, completely unavailable through German insurance.

  • Winter Sun Therapy ☀️ — ~€3,000. Southern European light exposure in fall and winter to protect vitamin D, immune stability and energy regulation when Bavarian grey skies undo months of progress.

➡️ TOTAL: €10,500

Not a euro of this goes toward anything other than closing the gap between where I am and where I know I can be.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Why doesn't insurance cover any of it?

Because Germany's health system treats what it recognizes — and ME/CFS, mitochondrial dysfunction, and Long Covid immune dysregulation still fall into a space conventional medicine is slowly, painfully catching up with.

These aren't fringe treatments. HBOT is used by NFL franchises and Olympic programs. Glutathione IV is standard in high-performance sports medicine globally. Alpha-Lipoic Acid infusions are well-documented for mitochondrial recovery.

They simply don't have a billing code that the system will accept.

I have no sponsor. No federation support. No club budget. Just my own determination — and now, hopefully, you.

─────────────────────────────────────────

This is bigger than one trophy.

As I rebuild my platform as a competitor, I'm going to use it to create something women's golf is genuinely missing: a real community. Proper access. The feeling of belonging.

I'm planning golf clinics for women just starting out, travel experiences blending sport and wellness, and networking events for women at every level of the game — people who have the passion but lack the connections, the confidence, or simply someone to play with.

Women's golf is growing. The community around it needs to catch up. I want to be part of building that — and a World Championship platform is the right place to do it from.

But first, I have to get there.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Let's talk about what I've already proven.

I won 3rd at the World Championship on no real training and a body running well below capacity.

Before illness derailed everything, I was a Bundesliga athlete and a full-time Senior Associate at KPMG. I have rebuilt myself — partially — more than once. I cook every meal. I walk every day. I meditate. I show up.

I am not asking for a handout. I am asking for a fighting chance — the same access to specialized recovery that any well-resourced professional athlete receives without question.

My doctors believe I haven't come close to my ceiling. My coaches believe it. And deep down, after everything this illness has thrown at me, I believe it too.

€10,500 stands between me and a real, consistent, healthy training block.

Let's find out what I'm actually capable of.

─────────────────────────────────────────

Here's how you can be part of this

Donate — every euro goes directly to the treatments above. Full stop.

Share — on Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, wherever you exist online. You might know exactly the right person. Use #HelpSonyaHeal and #SonyaToWorlds2027

Tag someone — a golf brand, a women's sport advocate, a wellness company, anyone who should know this story exists

I'll post regular updates — labs, treatments, range sessions, tournament news — so you can follow the journey and see your contribution turn into something real.

─────────────────────────────────────────

I cook my own meals. I walk even on my worst days. I show up for myself every single day with everything I have.

All I'm asking is for you to help cover what I can't.

Let's finish this together. ❤️

─────────────────────────────────────────

Thank you for reading. Thank you for believing in comebacks.
See you on the podium.
