Today, Skye’s friends rallied at CHLA with the goal to raise awareness and funds so that Skye and her family can travel to Boston for an experimental clinical trial. Unfortunately, the chemo is not working, BUT Skye has been approved to participate in the only pediatric clinical trial available at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston-- we just need to get her there! Unfortunately, flying commercially would put Skye at risk owing to her fragile condition. Therefore, our new goal is to raise at least another 50K to secure private air travel, housing, and escalating medical expenses.
With that goal in mind, Skye's friends had the amazing idea to make #SKYESTRONG bracelets for anyone that donates $10 or more to Skye's gofundme campaign from NOW until Thanksgiving.

With heavy hearts we would like to share with you all and ask for your prayers and help to support our beloved friends and sisters in Christ, Ami Asiah Kosaka and her beautiful daughter, Alaynah “Skye” Torress.
Skye is a 14-years-old student who loves God, loves music, has an amazing voice. She leads worship at church and cares greatly for her friends. Everyone is drawn to her sweet spirit and she always makes those around her laugh.
Mid-June Skye was taken to the ER for pain in her back and was sent to Children’s Hospital LA. After weeks of testing and multiple sources observing the results, Skye was diagnosed with a very aggressive and extremely rare form of cancer. We also received the news that the cancer started in her lungs and has spread to her spine and bones.
Skye has been staying really strong and we are all amazed by her strong faith. She still makes us laugh and encourages us with her happy motivation. She is blessed with great doctors, nurses, and staff at Children’s Hospital LA which is one of the best pediatric hospitals in the U.S. They made sure Skye’s 14th birthday was super special even though she was in the hospital. Skye even had concerts for the nurses :) What a joy for Skye to share the gift God gave her! They will keep on praising and singing through the road ahead.
Skye’s mom, Ami (Asiah), is a single-mom who is a faithful believer and works hard to support her two beautiful daughters - Raine and Skye. She has always been there for her children and done everything necessary to take care of them, but some burdens are too heavy to carry alone.
Skye’s treatment begins July 1st. We are requesting funds ASAP to help with all aspects of Skye’s treatment and to help support Ami so that she can stay with her daughter as they fight this battle. Any amount donated will help this family greatly! We appreciate all the love and prayers!
We want to come together as friends and family to pray for Skye’s healing and God’s guidance. We know God is with her and her family. We believe in miracles! They are standing strong because your prayers give them strength!!

晴れてミドルスクールの卒業式を終えたばかりのスカイちゃん。
その数日後に控えていた14歳になる自分のお誕生日を、卒業式の為に日本から来られていたご家族と共にレストランでお祝いしました。その夜、約1ヶ月訴えていた背中の痛みが酷くなり、すぐ救急でロサンゼルスの小児科に運ばれました。
生体検査、PETスキャンなど複数の検査の結果は、本人も含め、私たちにはとても重すぎる悲しい報告でした。稀にみる進行の早い癌で、調べた時には肺から始まり、骨の数カ所に転移している状態でした。
卒業式、お誕生日、これから夏休み、、。7月の頭に日本に行く計画もしていて、楽しい事が続いている中での悲しい報告を受け、落ち込んでいる姿の中、同時にこれからの治療に対して、前向きに取り組んでいこうとしているスカイちゃん。
治療期間はどれくらいになるのかはまだ分かりませんが、まだ14歳のスカイちゃんにとってはとても辛い治療になるでしょう。
スカイちゃんの母親である、あみさん（エイジア）はシングルマザーとして、アメリカで1人で頑張って2人の娘さんを育てています。今回精神的な辛さや、これからの治療でかかる医療費の不安を、出来るだけ減らしてあげたいと願っています。また、スカイちゃんの側にいてサポートするためには、お仕事を休まなければならず、収入の面でも厳しい状況になります。
いつも明るく、学校や教会で人気者のスカイちゃん。天使のような歌声をいつまでもみんなが聴けるように、可愛い笑顔をいつまでも見せて欲しいという願いを込めて、今回このページを立ち上げました。金額に関係なく、皆様の一寄付がスカイちゃん、またご家族の助けとなります。皆様のご支援とご協力を宜しくお願いします。
この過酷な試練の中にあっても、スカイちゃんが神様によって守られていることを心から感じています。アメリカでもトップ5に入る小児病院に転送された事。スカイちゃんをケアしてくれるナース達がクリスチャンだったり、またみんながスカイちゃんの歌を聞きたがってお部屋に何度も訪ねて来て、コンサートしたり。神様がスカイちゃんに与えた歌の賜物を、病室で披露することができたりと、すべてのことに神様の守りとあわれみを感じさせられています。これからの道のりも賛美しながら乗り越えていくでしょう。
