Hi, my name is Tara, and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Sheila, who has been one of my closest friends for over 30 years. I’ve seen her go through life’s highs and lows, and right now she’s facing a truly difficult moment with her beloved dog, Joon.

Joon is an *11-year-old rescue—a gentle giant with the heart of a saint. She’s part St. Bernard, part Bernese Mountain Dog, and has been Sheila’s loyal companion since she was a pup. Until recently, Joon was healthy, happy, and full of life, going on daily hikes and living her best life with her pack mates Gretel and Castile.

Then Joon suddenly became very sick.

Sheila had to rush her in for emergency veterinary care, including bloodwork and diagnostics, to find out what was wrong and get her the help she needed. It was believed that she had an obstruction. She was put on antibiotics as a precaution. Thankfully, the antibiotics are working, and Joon is now almost back to her normal self—but the medical bills remain, and they’re a heavy burden.

This crisis couldn’t have come at a worse time.

Just one year ago, Sheila lost her heart dog, and soulmate Benny, to cancer. After many chemotherapy treatments and two years in remission, the cancer returned, and she had to say goodbye. That loss devastated Sheila—and left her financially drained from Benny’s treatments. Treatments she is still paying for today.

Now, after all that heartbreak, she’s facing another emotional and financial blow.

Sheila is one of the most devoted dog moms I’ve ever known. She has always fed her pups a vet approved diet and kept their vaccines up to date. She hikes with them and gives them unconditional love every single day. Joon is not just a pet—she’s family. And while Sheila is doing everything she can for her pup, she can’t do this alone.

That’s why I’m reaching out. All funds will go toward paying down the debt that Sheila has accrued from Benny & Joon's veterinary care.
