My name is CJ, and I am creating this fundraiser for my neighbor and dear friend, Sarah Lyons. It is hard to put into words what Sarah means to the people around her. She is the kind of person who has spent her entire life showing up for others. She has been a steady source of kindness in her community, a comforting presence for friends in crisis, and a caretaker for nearly every family member she has lost. She has lived a life of quiet service, giving her love and energy without ever asking for anything in return.

Today, she no longer has family left to lean on. Her support system is made up of a small circle of loving friends and neighbors who want nothing more than to help her heal. But the truth is that we cannot do it alone. Sarah is fighting cancer, and she needs a wider circle to lift her up during the hardest chapter of her life.

Two years ago, Sarah received a diagnosis that completely changed her world. Major surgery revealed a more advanced stage than anyone expected, and even though she fought with everything she had, her health took a heartbreaking turn this year. In May, she began experiencing severe pain that led to new scans and difficult news. Since then, she has had two hospital stays and now requires ongoing treatments and continuous medical care. At one point, Sarah had to travel outside of the United States for a lifesaving treatment option that was not available to her here, which added an enormous financial burden on top of everything else she is facing.

Sarah has always tried to carry her own weight. Even after becoming disabled twelve years ago, she continued working part time, determined to stay independent and contribute where she could. But after her most recent health crisis, she simply cannot work anymore. She has reached the point where every resource she had is gone. She is trying to recover while also trying to survive.

Medicare does not cover many of the treatments, medications, supplements, and supportive therapies she urgently needs. She also has to manage basic living expenses while following a strict diet that supports her healing. It is all too much for one person to handle while fighting for her life.

Through all of this, Sarah’s hope has never faded. She believes in her ability to heal. She believes in the possibility of a full recovery. She talks about the future as something she is determined to reach. She wants to return to the community she loves. She wants to feel strong again. She wants her life back.

This fundraiser will go directly toward Sarah’s medical appointments, treatments, medications, supplements, travel costs, and essential living expenses. It will give her the ability to focus on her healing without the constant fear of how she will afford food, shelter, and care. It will give her a chance to fight.
