My name is Chris, and I want to share with you the journey my daughter Samantha has been on. It's a journey filled with both hope and challenges.
Four years ago, Samantha faced the unimaginable when she was diagnosed with cancer. She showed incredible strength and determination as she underwent grueling rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Samantha's dream was to become an RN and return to BC Children's Hospital to make a difference in the lives of others.
However, just weeks before Samantha was set to leave for nursing school, a devastating setback occurred. She relapsed. Heartbreakingly, her educational plans had to be put on hold as the university couldn't defer her application. Initially, we received a glimmer of hope when the doctors suggested a bone marrow transplant, but reality hit hard when they discovered it was AML, not MDS as initially thought. We were faced with two heart-wrenching options: palliative care or aggressive chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant, with no guarantee of survival and a potentially poor quality of life afterward. It was a devastating blow.
In our quest for the best possible care for Samantha, we heard about Car T Cell Therapy, a promising treatment option, but trials were unavailable for her condition. I couldn't accept that as the final answer. Determined to give my daughter the best chance, I embarked on a mission to find the top doctors and hospitals specializing in Car T Cell Therapy for AML. I'm reaching out to anyone who may have referrals, experience, or any information that can guide us on this path.
I am also facing the reality of being a single mom with two kids, juggling medical expenses, food, and everyday bills. Any assistance, whether it's in the form of financial support or words of encouragement, would mean the world to us. Samantha needs all the strength and hope she can get during this trying time.
If you have a few kind words to share with Samantha or would like to send her a card filled with encouragement, it would truly be appreciated. It's challenging to hold onto hope, but I am resolute in my belief that she can overcome this cancer. I am determined that she will get the treatment needed to beat this cancer!
The funds we receive will be used for financial obligations and expenditures as I care for my daughter. Your support in any form would be a lifeline during this critical period in Samantha's life.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any assistance or words of encouragement you can offer. Together, we can help Samantha beat this cancer and restore hope for a brighter future.
With gratitude,
Chris (Samantha's Mom)
