Support Ruby In Her Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Ruby Walker, still full of vitality was unfortunately forced to enter retirement early as a result of being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of Breast Cancer called 'Triple Negative'. Ruby has been fighting this aggressive cancer for over 2 years and it has now spread to her lungs, liver and bones.
Affectionately known as Mama/Auntie Positive for pouring her strength and positive words into others, she has now found herself fighting for her life after doctors have tried every chemo and radiation at their disposal with no positive results.
Born in Chicago and raised in San Francisco, Ruby Walker worked a total of 44 years…22 at Bank of America and 22 years at City College of San Francisco. Ruby is the matriarch of her family and is often leaned on for help and guidance, when others have problems or challenging situations to deal with. Mama Positive always has an optimistic way of looking at things and shedding light on negative circumstances.
Ruby worked on many out-reach programs in the surrounding neighborhoods of San Francisco, where there was an under-served community. She mentored students who came to City College’s South East campus looking for resources to help with educational needs and access to job workshops. But if you ask any of the family she’s raised or students she’s mentored, they would tell you that she didn’t stop there. They would tell you that she’s been there for many life events on their journey. Many of those students still reach out to call for advice and support, even though Ruby’s now retired. Mama Positive’s love and compassion go beyond the normal challenges of work and school. She’s been a genuine friend to many who were in need. Ruby’s positive energy has touched numerous family members, students, co-workers, and friends lives for the better part of her life, and now she needs our love and support.
Ruby's last hope in traditional medicine is a clinical trial which has not yet been approved for use on humans and Homeopathic Oncology, which is expensive and not covered by insurance. This will be an ongoing battle, and as such, we are reaching out to friends, family and all who are able to support financially, or through prayers and words of strength and encouragement; as this fight is physically, emotionally and financially taxing on Ruby and her family.
After some research and many phone calls, we spoke to several doctors and administrators of different hospitals and cancer treatment centers. We finally chose a facility in Mexico that provides various non-invasive treatments that will work to stop the cancer growth, strengthen the body and boost Ruby’s quality of life. Ruby’s retirement dreams were not quite realized, but she now has a new journey ahead, one that requires her continued gratitude and humility to fight this uphill battle.
In all of this, Ruby still remains full of hope and positivity because she believes that God has the final 'say so' and that a Believing mind is stronger than a sick body.
The cost for 3 week visit to the cancer treatment center in Mexico is $30,000 and another approximate $20,000 to fund the follow up treatments when Ruby returns home. Any financial support is greatly appreciated
