Campaign Update: Help Baby Reyad Survive in Gaza

Hello, I am Farah. I live in Toronto, Canada. As Abeer’s friend, I have taken it upon myself to share Abeer’s urgent plea for help, as Abeer lacks the means to do so due to restrictions in her region. This fundraising effort is a call for compassion and assistance to help Abeer''s young family rebuild and survive in Gaza.

The challenges Abeer faces are immediate and overwhelming. Market prices have soared, making basic necessities unaffordable. The family's quest for safety is hindered by large fees required to cross borders safely. We started this fundraiser in hopes to evacuate Abeer and her family to Egypt.

However, Abeer fears that it is an unrealistic goal and she has to come to terms with what is. She has decided to rebuild in Gaza. The goal to raise $10,000 CAD is critical; it represents more than just a number—it's a lifeline for Abeer, Reyad, and their family to rebuild amidst the destruction.

This campaign is not just about financial aid; it’s a plea for empathy and solidarity. The funds will ensure Abeer's family can cover the costs for the next six months rent, food and basic needs to survive towards a life of hope and dignity they desperately need and deserve.

Your support can change the course of their lives. By donating, you're providing more than just financial assistance; you're offering hope and a chance for Abeer and her family to rebuild in Gaza. Please consider contributing and sharing their pressing need with your network. Let’s come together to Abeer and her son that they are not alone in this fight for a better life.

Abeers’ Story: During turmoil in Gaza, Abeer, a former nurse, finds herself in a desperate struggle for survival alongside her three-month-old son, Reyad. Their life took a devastating turn when their home was destroyed, leaving them without shelter, struggling for access to essential resources like food, water, and medical care. She was displaced in a tent with her husband, son, mother-in-law, father-in-law, her two sisters-in-laws who are only 16 and 18 years old. They all share one tent. Her three brothers-in-law have been displaced in a nearby UNRWA school because there is no room for them in her tent. The brothers are only 19, 21- and 29-years old age.

To those who have donated up until today's date, we have given Abeer and her family the opportunity to live together. Your donations have covered her rent for the next two months along with some basic needs.

Abeer’s message to the world: “I was working as a nurse at Al-Aqsa hospital up until I gave birth. My son, Reyad, was born with asthma due to my inhalation of the pollution caused from the bombs and phosphorus surrounding us in Gaza. My son is 3 months old and needs daily asthma medicine which is very rare and when it can be found, I do not have the money to buy it. I must borrow an inhalator space to give him his asthma medication from my friend. Before giving birth, my home was bombed and destroyed. I was displaced in Nuseirat camp 2, living in a flimsy plastic tent without any electricity and scarce access to water and food. I am not able to breastfeed and have no money to buy what is available of the remaining formula, diapers, and clothing. Like other mothers, I fear I will lose my son to bombardment and starvation. I am begging the world to help me. My dream is to evacuate to Egypt from the violence. However, I have come to understand that I need to focus on giving my son and family the basics needs and rebuild here in Gaza. I want to give him a safe and happy life. One day, God will allow me to evacuate to safety. For now, I ask the world to help me survive here in Gaza.
