We are the Friends of the Original Leland Farm House. We’re a brand new not-for-profit organization that tried, unsuccessfully, to save the historic Leland home.
This beautiful home once sat on 600 acres which now encompasses Leland Grove, Jerome, and Washington Park. The farm once provided food for the prestigious Leland Hotel in downtown Springfield.
Although we were unsuccessful in saving and moving the amazing home, we were gifted with the Summer Kitchen by the Vala family, which still sits where it did so many years ago.
Our not-for-profit is currently raising funds to move the summer kitchen to the Washington Park area so that it can be admired for generations to come.
Please help us in any way you can. The moving of the structure alone will be approximately $30,000.00, and we have other expenses as well, to get this amazing structure to its final resting place.
We will soon have a Facebook page for the “Friends of the Original Leland Farm House” and hope to raise awareness and funds to complete our mission.
Donors may also drop off or mail donations directly to United Community Bank in care of “Friends of the Orignal Leland Farm House” - to be deposited in our account.
Time is of the essence as we are contracted to have the structure moved and its original site repaired by 2/15/22.
Thanks to all for your incredible support in helping to move this little piece of Springfield/ Leland Grove/ Jerome history, so that it may be visited and admired for generations to come!
