Reema is a mother of three young children. She is also a student, a dreamer, and a woman who has spent the past years doing everything she can to keep her family alive and protect her children.

Like thousands of families in Gaza, Reema, her husband, and their children have endured unimaginable hardship. During the war, their days were defined by fear, displacement, and survival. Thanks to the kindness of people around the world, previous fundraising helped them secure basic necessities such as food, temporary shelter, and medicine.

When the ceasefire arrived, Reema and her family returned to northern Gaza hoping to rebuild some sense of normal life. But life remains extremely difficult. Homes and infrastructure have been devastated, basic services are scarce, and families continue to face unsafe and unstable living conditions every day.

Now, with the new school year approaching and winter not far behind, Reema is facing another urgent challenge: keeping her children safe, dry, and able to continue their education.

BEFORE WINTER ARRIVES

Before winter arrives, Reema needs to make her home safe enough to protect her children from the heavy rains and flooding. Reema's neighborhood is particularly exposed. The area is affected by flooding, and the house needs urgent repairs before the heavy winter rains arrive.

The roof and windows need to be repaired and secured. When it rains heavily, large amounts of water can enter the house and flood the entire home, making it extremely difficult for the family to stay warm and safe.

The surrounding area is also full of mice, rats, and insects. These conditions make everyday life even harder, and the family often struggles to sleep at night because of them.

For Reema and her children, preparing for winter is not about comfort. It is about having a home that can protect them from the rain, flooding, cold, and unsafe conditions outside.

At the same time, Reema wants her children to be able to continue going to school despite the horrors they have been through.
