Almost a year ago, in January 2013, our church caught fire. This fire and the water damage resulting from it took away not only our main place of worship but also a beacon in our community, as most of our community service programs were displaced. We were not able to hold after school services for neighborhood children, family and parenting counseling services and our youth summer job program did not take place.
A year later, we are still in the process of rebuilding. Our insurance settlement was not nearly enough to cover the cost to rebuild and bring our building up to code. Our church family has been generous with their resources but they also have been hurt with the recession and economy downturn. In short we are still needing more financial resources to complete pour project and to be able to open our doors again.
Our church was founded in 1978 by Apostle Angel Mercado and his wife, Pastor Ruth Mercado. Since then, this church has been an anchor in the Humboldt Park community in Chicago. People know they can come to our door and get their spiritual and physical needs met. To be able to re-open our doors, we need your support and through that support you will help us fulfill our Christ's call to our church. Together, we are making a difference for the Kingdom. Together, through our generous giving and deep commitment to Christ's mission, we are connecting people to Christ and they are discovering their purpose, unleashing their potential and achieving destiny.
Generosity is a scriptural principle. That is why I am asking every individual and family to give a "Generosity Unlimited" offering to God's House.
Why a "Generosity Unlimited" offering? For starters, we are on a mission for God, literally! What could we be more passionate about than to see more people encounter Jesus? We BELIEVE the gospel is a lifestyle, not just a story. We BELIEVE God is in the life-changing business and we are part of it!
Secondly, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 teaches us, that locked away in every seed is potential. The key is our pure intentions. Giving is always the beginning. The more we sow, the greater the harvest.
I look forward to praising and thanking God with you and your family.
