This week has been one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life. My little Potato Petra was rushed to the vets for emergency surgery after they suspected pyometra. During surgery, they discovered a huge mass on her ovary, the size of a tennis ball, with suspected cancer. The mass was removed and she was spayed, but sadly that was only the beginning of her fight. Since then, Petra has suffered several complications including severe bleeding, infection, a UTI, bladder stones, and leakage from her surgical wound. She became dangerously anaemic and stopped eating completely. After countless vet visits, she is now in an emergency veterinary hospital receiving treatment and waiting for yet another surgery. Watching her go through all of this has been absolutely devastating. She is my whole world, my comfort, my best friend, and I would do anything to save her. The vet bills have already gone far beyond what my insurance will cover, and although I never imagined I would have to ask for help, I would be endlessly grateful for any donation, no matter how small towards Petra’s care.
