Dear Friends and Family,
As a believer, I know God has provided for us in the past and will continue to do so during this time of urgent need. There is a song out “If I Was To Tell My Story”…. Well here is a short version of my story as it is today...
I was recently diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Thankful it is Stage 1, however, it is an aggressive form of breast cancer. With that said, I will be having a Bi-lateral Mastectomy surgery in a few weeks and reconstructive surgery to follow, which generally takes a year for completion depending on any complications. Only after surgery, will I know the future regimen to follow… required medications for the next 5 years, any chemotherapy, etc.
There is never a good time for a cancer diagnosis, but we were already faced with financial struggles to the point that Pat, my husband, had to take a job out of state to make ends meet. With all of this in front of us, he will have to leave his job, come back to Texas, so he can be here to help me throughout this long process of recovery, doctor appointments, surgery and all the appointments for follow-up, and lastly just to assist with the general chores of life; cooking, cleaning and caring for me while I am incapacitated. With all that said, and I know it is a lot, we lost the income he was bringing home causing even more stress to our already struggling family.
I am thankful I have medical insurance through my job, which will help with the medical expenses, however, I will be out of work for 6 to 8 weeks on medical leave with no earned income during that time period. With the loss of all income, we will have so many things requiring financial assistance, such as household utilities, mortgage, car payment, food, medical insurance premiums and so forth. All the money we have at hand, is currently going towards insurance deductibles and the out of pocket costs for treatment. However, alot of the deductibles have not been fully met and the costs are still mounting.
As a family, we are forced to reach out to our family, friends and our community for assistance, in hopes that you all can help through this time of urgent need. I know there are some programs out there which I will continue to look into for help. However, if you are able to assist financially in any way, small or large, it will go straight to the expenses mentioned previously.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping if you can. Pat and I would like to thank you for your consideration and help in advance! God bless you all!
